stayed here for one night with friends on motorbikes, host was welcoming and helpful telling us where to eat and drink and recommending we book because we were a large group. rooms were lovely and spacious with great views. no ground floor rooms which we knew before booking. seems a lot of money for serviced rooms with a continental breakfast... More expensive than some hotels but it is a nice place. We had a second floor corner room overlooking the harbour. Dog friendly. The room was well decorated and furnished. Quality fittings and furnishings throughout the house. Pick up key at unmanned reception- unlike some reviewers I like not having to have false conversations with staff. Nice to be left... More

Thornlee Guest house is "serviced by Thornlee"... no one at front desk on arrival. Breakfast is provided in mini fridge ( adequate as a continental) great location with free car park across the street. Outside concerned us, a bit shabby but the room was the best we had on our trip through Outer Hebrides. Free wine, wonderful sheets, bed and... More

Was a bit worried when I got to Thorlee, There is no receptionist/proprietor to welcome you here, just an envelope with your name on it. Opening it I found my key and some clear advice about the guest house and how to make the most of it. I climbed the stairs to my room and it all looked cosy and... More

First impressions were a bit daunting as the exterior needs a touch of paint, but then I guess all the sea salt air isn't that good for woodwork! Once inside, our room was clean and spacious - a bit tatty in places, but good enough. It is a great idea to have the fridge in the room with breakfast (unfortunately... More

Our room was bright, spacious, clean and comfortable, even with its quaint sloping floors, and doors which didn't fit well - the bathroom door wouldn't stay closed and kept sliding open, no lock! Having said that, we had no complaints at all, and felt this added to its charm. The exterior is really unattractive, but if you like sitting watching... More

Breakfast idea is great, small fridge in room with cereals and milk, rolls, cheese, jams and marmalade. 2 small bottles water and 2 small cartons fruit juice, tea, coffee and cappachino sachets 1 small red and 1 small white also available in... We booked twin room with shower/toilet. On arrival we found an envelope with a room key and a receipt for our booking already taken out. On entering room 6 it had no shower or toilet just a dated sink in the corner of the room. A piece of paper was on the bed saying the shower/toilet were on another floor.... More

After leaving the disaster of the KIngs Arms Kyleakin, we were in trepedation on arriving here, when we pulled up and saw a beige building with paint peeling off sitting over a betting office we nearly cried, but built of sterner stuff we ventured in to be surprised nby nice carpets well painted hall way smell of polish, nobody at... I agree with earlier reviews. The exterior needs a good makeover (costly, I know). I recognise the bit about your key being in an envelope on arrival and not seeing the proprietor (s)? Over a four night stay I think I might have seen them once but I'm not sure! Not a great fan of breakfast being in the fridge... More
