I've had the misfortune to stay three times at the Caladh Inn, as a last resort when better accommodation was fully booked. It's clean enough -- that's not the problem -- but at £69 a night the very least I expect is that things will work. Like the TV. Like the lights in the bathroom. Like radiators that actually heat... more

Having booked before reading TripAdvisor, myself and girlfriend considered cancelling our trip to Stornoway based around the comments of 'Shocked' and 'Stay in a tent' - however, greatly to our surprise, and relief, we found our two night stay most enjoyable! This was thanks greatly to reception ( Aileen and Tom - I think) who supplied maps, weather forecasts and... more

I have travelled the world for 14 years. Stayed in all sorts of places. This bleak run down hotel fits in perfectly with its surroundings. Stayed in better places most people only see on the news. My advice to the owners, keep the resturant, demolish the hotel. Make this your last choice, I kid you not!! more

Ended up here as a last minute booking when the weather turned and the tent wasn't appealing anymore. It is very close to the port if you have to catch an early morning ferry but that is all it has going for it really. It is incredibly over priced at £105! The room we stayed in was small and dingy.... more

I spent one night at the Caladh Inn on business. The exterior resembles a blockhouse but once through the revolving door the staff do try to look after you. My room (9) was comfortable - small sitting area , bathroom with powerful shower plus a seperate bedroom - comfortable double bed , trouser press tea and coffee - i could... more

I stayed one night at the Caladh Inn in May 2009 and would never go back. First, to be fair, the good points: The location is great for the Ullapool ferry, the room was clean and the restaurant ("Eleven") served nice food. However........ Our first problem started in the evening. A trawl of Stornoway revealed that probably the best choice... more

After spending a couple of splendid nights at the Caberfeidh Hotel in Stornoway I was marooned on Lewis after car problems caused me to miss my ferry. I returned to the Caberfeidh, hoping to secure a further night's accommodation, only to find that they were fully booked. The helpful receptionist offered to call their sister hotel, The Caladh, to enquire... more

Room was small, very small. About a quarter of the size of the room in Berneray!! Clean. Breakfast okay, nothing special. Staff friendly, local and knowledgable. Inn was the quietest place we stayed at. However, we spent minimal time in it due to the size of the room. Expensive for what you get; half the price would have been reasonable. more

I attended a wedding at this hotel, and got a preferential rate of £80 per room B&B. Let me say first off, it's not worth £80. The Room: The rooms are like stepping back in time, very dated (But, they are clean), a colour portable TV, with no remote control, which wouldn't be out of place in a museum. And... more

We stayed at this hotel for one night and thank goodness it was only one night. We stayed in room 31 and I have stayed in better budget rooms in Butlins as a child. The bath would be ok if you are 4ft in height and the shower was attached to the bath taps via the old fashioned rubber hoses... more
