Our first impressions were not great, as at 1.30pm we turned up directly from a ferry journey from the main land to be told that the booking in time was 2pm. No attempt was made to check if the room was actually available - we had to go and sit in our car in the car park for 30 mins!... More

The reception staff were friendly and helpful. Even though we were with a coach party the food was excellent thoughout, the tables were nicely decorated and the restaurant staff were very good. In addition the bedroom was clean and comfortable-with a large bed! More

The hotel might not look much as you drive into the carpark, but the warmth and friendliness of the staff and the quaintness of the hotel interior decor makes it the best place to stay in Stornaway. Non-descript interiors, run-of-the-mill hotel and extremely uncompetitive for the price. Even for business travellers, a B and B would be better. More
