As mentioned by previous reviewers, not a stunning building though it does sit in well tended grounds. Pleased to report the bar and restuarant have been refurbished and have a nice modern European bistro feel. Some public areas could still benefit from a refresh, particularly the main staircase and the Willow Room which have their own distinctive smells. Food was... more
Stayed for 2 nights. Booked for me by client & I didn't see price so I can't comment on the value. Typical business type room much improved from when I last stayed here about 3 - 4 years ago with everything you need. Had obviously been refurbished. Bathroom OK. A small irritating noise somewhere at night but not too bad.... more
Found the hotel by net-searching for places to stay in Stornoway. Looked ok from the reviews and website although a bit 70's. booking was efficient and i had an instant confirmation reply. I took a taxi from the airport (£8) and this service was quick with a warm Highland welcome. I travelled to Lewis with a colleague for work committments... more
Because of bad weather had to stay in Stornoway at the Caberfeidh Hotel for the first time. Hotel room was very clean, breakfast good , dinner excellent..enjoyed the fillet with ross-shire blue cheese and creme brulee...keep up the good work! Food is a 5 star rating. more
I stayed on business in november and would hearteley recommend anyone to stay.... my only grumble would be the bar (which we found out is being refurbished very soon) which when complete will i feel give them a great hotel, as all the staff were fabulous. (even when late for breakfast!!!!! oops!) the room was very spacious, No view unfortunatley... more
The hotel itself is not a jewel in the crown of architecture, the building is not bonny, and is showing its age. However, it does not have a great deal of competition on the island. The rooms were clean, fairly big and the bed was great, really comfy. No views to be had from the window, unless you love flat... more
A clean fairly modern hotel with comfortable neat rooms, of similar quality to one of the mainland chains such as Holiday Inn etc . A little out of town, but actually, more pleasant for this as there isnt too much scenic wonder in the town itself. Easy to find. Just across the road (almost) from the hotel, there is a... more
We stayed two nights here in late April and were very pleased. They are doing some revamping of dining rooms but that did not cause any problems. It's a very clean and polished sort of place. The staff were very welcoming and efficient and we enjoyed the food though the "packed" lunch was less impressive. (Choice of tasty, well-filled sandwich, shortbread,... more
My third stay at the Cabar on business. It is really showing the effects of lack of competition in Stornoway. No broadband access, poor breakfast (although the waitresses are v. friendly), no leisure facilties and limited bar service for residents. Ate in the Manor Restaurant one night which was poor also - nowhere near the standard of Digby Chick or... more
