Although the beds in the twin room were a bit creaky the rest of the stay was wonderful. Fantastic hosts who could not do enough for you. Premises very clean and the cooked breakfast lasted us all day. Will definitely return if ever in Stornoway.

We were greeted by Derek when arriving. This is a beautiful home with well appointed rooms. Our breakfast was excellent. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it. Well located.

We very much enjoyed our three-day stay at the Fernlea. Derek and Margaret were friendly and helpful, and very responsive to our special interests. They not only gave excellent suggestions about where to go and what to do but in many cases made the arrangements as well. Derek is from Glasgow and Margaret from Carloway on the west coast of... There were a few of us staying in various guest houses around Stornoway over the weekend of The Harris Tweed Tattoo and those of us lucky enough to stay at Fernlea Guest House were very happy with our experience. Greeted by friendly owners and shown to our rooms, which were spotless, well decorated, cosy and comfy, we found every aspect... More

One of the best B&B"s I have ever stayed in. Margaret and Derek made us feel very comfortable they are extremely helpful and thoughtful, and breakfast with Stornoway Black Pudding 12/10 a must if you visit here. Clean, inviting, friendly, the house itself is gorgeous. If I ever have the good fortune of visiting here again it will definitely be... More

We stayed 2 nights at Fernlea. Good location less than 10 minutes walk to Stornoway town centre. Rooms were of a reasonable size although the en suite are quite cramped. Breakfast was excellent. The owners were helpful about answering any questions. We had to leave early on our final day and we were provided with a packed lunch in lieu... More

During a visit to Scotland, my husband and I decided on a last minute trip to the Isle of Lewis. This involved traveling to Stornoway and spending the night. We arrived at the Fernlea a bit late in the day, but were warmly greeted, and checked into a cozy room. The host asked about our plans, and offered to assist... More

After a long car and ferry trip the Fernlea in Stornoway welcomes you with friendly open arms. Margaret and Derek go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The breakfast was always spot on and the lunch pack was just right when you spend the whole day at lonely bays and beaches. The overall ambience... More
