Stayed in the "Brock Suite" which was nice - in 1972! Main light in bedroom didn't work, spiders and webs about and cupboards that didn't close due to hotel items being stored in there. The people were nice but was pretty much ignored in the bar. Bar staff more interested in the locals and private conversation. Won't be staying again.

Had to stay in this Hotel as Booking .com had doubled booked me.Arrived late due to coming off the ferry. The staff are great, friendly and very helpful. The rooms do need updating but were clean. The breakfast was amazing.

We booked here mainly because it met the requirements of the two rooms we needed and not really for any other reason. As others have said, it is a bit dated but we weren't really bothered about that as it seemed nice and clean. The rooms were fine with all the basic requirements although, from room 8 you can hear... It was our first visit to the Outer Hebrides and we had made this booking online, not knowing what to expect. It is a dated hotel but that was the beauty of it. In a secluded location it was a long drive from the ferry. But that said, enjoying the Hebrides calls for a lot of long drives. We are... More

We recently stayed for 2 nights at this place. This is located 20miles from Stornway so be prepared to drive to it as you get of the ferry. The GPS does take you to it but drive slowly as you near the place else you may drive past it. It's a nice but a dated property for the price charged.... More

Stopped off for a bar meal on way to Callanish stones. Although it was very quiet, we were given a warm welcome. It was bar food and was a bit on pricey side. Maybe if prices were reduced it would be busier. Food was tasty, if I'm honest I not sure I would go back due to the price.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your bar meal at Doune Braes, but sorry that you found us to be pricey. Other guests have remarked on how moderate our meal prices are and we do our best to give value for money. More

My friend and I had another beautiful meal at the Doune Braes hotel. The seating arrangements overlooking a picturesque loch were ideal, as was the polite and friendly service we received. I had a perfectly cooked lobster and my friend had one of the best steaks he has eaten for a long time. The portions were generous and we would... More

We arrived without a booking but took a seat. There was obviously some form of crisis going on - our guess was something to do with the water supply. Bu when the waitress appeared she was lovely, smiling, welcoming, not at all phased by whatever was happening behind the scenes. We had a deliciuous meal and can recommend it. Watch... More

Had a wonderful time staying here for a week in April while visiting stone circles on the island. The food was generous and wonderful; my only complaint there is that I gained weight with the glory of the Full Scottish Breakfast! Eileen, the proprietor, was delightful and very accommodating to the needs of our large group. I also had the... More
