First of all, id like to say we did visit in the 'off season' and the hotel was clearly very quite. We stopped for lunch and asked for food only to be told the chef wasn't on today. We didnt really mind that, we were just looking for something quick to eat. We were then told there was no printed... More

Have used this hotel whilst visiting Isle of Lewis. This is a real quiet place. Nice traditional food here , enough on the plates (too much) Nice area for walking nearby but do not expect to met a lot of other people in this area. Check for available accommodation before going here as sometimes it is fully booked by coach... More

We spent one night here in August. As far as the hotel goes, the decor was not only dated but in the corridors was a little odd. In our room the tap came off the bath, there was a leak from the toilet and the mirror hanging from the back of the door was loose and pretty hazardous. Having said... More

We stayed two nights in the Doune Braes and ate in the dining room on only one of the nights. The staff and owner are all friendly and the food at dinner and breakfast was great. Unfortunately it was very busy for dinner and we had to wait but staff were honest and given that this is the only place... More

We were staying in the nearby village of Tolsta Chaolais and walked over the hills one evening on a fine little trail (It is marked both at the Hotel and in Tolsta Chaolais and is a mile.) for a drink and dinner in the pub. The staff could not have been more friendly - especially Andrew, the young barman cum... More

Doune Braes hotel is perfectly located for visiting Callanish standing stones. We stayed in one of the annexe rooms which was perfect as we were travelling with a dog. The room was large, well equipped and spotlessly clean if a little dated. Every one of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The main highlight of our stay was the... More

We stayed for 1 night as a stopover, we had a massive family bedroom which was welcome however the bedroom features and furniture were a bit dated, the bathroom needed a coat of paint as there was staining on the ceiling and the towels were a bit threadbare. The staff were very helpful and polite, breakfast was excellent. If the... More

We stopped here for a night on our way to see the Standing Stones of Callanish. The hotel was clean, and the food was good. There was ample parking. There also were other sights in the area. My only complaint was the rather thin curtains, which let a lot of light in. Since the sun rises at this time of... More

On arriving staff were too busy to ask what we wanted! When somebody did look up we were asked to wait while somebody was fetched. After a while this person arrived and asked us to wait again in a corner. Some ten minutes after arrival we left the establishment. A customer who had witnessed the treatment we'd received came out... More

I stayed at this hotel last week, the place was quiet ( I was the only guest). I had booked a double room but up graded to the Broch suite, great being able to relax after a stressful day in a comfy chair. the bed was also cosy and had a sound sleep. the bar was closed but they made... More
