Doune Braes hotel is perfectly located for visiting Callanish standing stones. We stayed in one of the annexe rooms which was perfect as we were travelling with a dog. The room was large, well equipped and spotlessly clean if a little dated. Every one of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The main highlight of our stay was the... More

We stayed for 1 night as a stopover, we had a massive family bedroom which was welcome however the bedroom features and furniture were a bit dated, the bathroom needed a coat of paint as there was staining on the ceiling and the towels were a bit threadbare. The staff were very helpful and polite, breakfast was excellent. If the... More

We stopped here for a night on our way to see the Standing Stones of Callanish. The hotel was clean, and the food was good. There was ample parking. There also were other sights in the area. My only complaint was the rather thin curtains, which let a lot of light in. Since the sun rises at this time of... More

On arriving staff were too busy to ask what we wanted! When somebody did look up we were asked to wait while somebody was fetched. After a while this person arrived and asked us to wait again in a corner. Some ten minutes after arrival we left the establishment. A customer who had witnessed the treatment we'd received came out... More

I stayed at this hotel last week, the place was quiet ( I was the only guest). I had booked a double room but up graded to the Broch suite, great being able to relax after a stressful day in a comfy chair. the bed was also cosy and had a sound sleep. the bar was closed but they made... More

A rarity on the island. We had coffee here and returned for Sunday lunch. Our waitress both times was delightful and very welcoming. Sunday lunch was pleasant - like your mums sunday lunch really. Hot Fudge cake yummy though! Warm and a rare find on an island that does not do a lot to welcome tourists. Toilets and eating area... More

What a wonderful time we spent in Doune Braes. We were there with an impossibly large group for a conference. Doune Braes is old kind of quaint and a little quirky, it is a hotel that feels like a hug. We all lived there, for ten days. Good food good sleep warm against the weather and the most magnificent friendly... More

Stayed in the "Brock Suite" which was nice - in 1972! Main light in bedroom didn't work, spiders and webs about and cupboards that didn't close due to hotel items being stored in there. The people were nice but was pretty much ignored in the bar. Bar staff more interested in the locals and private conversation. Won't be staying again.

Had to stay in this Hotel as Booking .com had doubled booked me.Arrived late due to coming off the ferry. The staff are great, friendly and very helpful. The rooms do need updating but were clean. The breakfast was amazing.

We booked here mainly because it met the requirements of the two rooms we needed and not really for any other reason. As others have said, it is a bit dated but we weren't really bothered about that as it seemed nice and clean. The rooms were fine with all the basic requirements although, from room 8 you can hear...
