Stopped off for a bar meal on way to Callanish stones. Although it was very quiet, we were given a warm welcome. It was bar food and was a bit on pricey side. Maybe if prices were reduced it would be busier. Food was tasty, if I'm honest I not sure I would go back due to the price.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your bar meal at Doune Braes, but sorry that you found us to be pricey. Other guests have remarked on how moderate our meal prices are and we do our best to give value for money. More

My friend and I had another beautiful meal at the Doune Braes hotel. The seating arrangements overlooking a picturesque loch were ideal, as was the polite and friendly service we received. I had a perfectly cooked lobster and my friend had one of the best steaks he has eaten for a long time. The portions were generous and we would... More

We arrived without a booking but took a seat. There was obviously some form of crisis going on - our guess was something to do with the water supply. Bu when the waitress appeared she was lovely, smiling, welcoming, not at all phased by whatever was happening behind the scenes. We had a deliciuous meal and can recommend it. Watch... More

Had a wonderful time staying here for a week in April while visiting stone circles on the island. The food was generous and wonderful; my only complaint there is that I gained weight with the glory of the Full Scottish Breakfast! Eileen, the proprietor, was delightful and very accommodating to the needs of our large group. I also had the... More

I stayed at this lovely hotel last month. The friendliness and eternal helpfulness of Eileen and the staff was an unusual delight. Beautiful breakfasts. Fabulous lamb dishes at dinner. Comfortable and charming rooms. And close to the standing stones of Callanish... A world-class site of antiquity.

I spent 11 days at the Doune Braes, as a retreat facilitator. We had 24 participants. From arrival to departure we were treated as honored guests. Rooms were lovely and meals generous and varied. The staff was superb, friendly and endlessly patient and accomodating. I highly recommend the hotel to anyone spending time on Lewis and wanting a comfortable, warm,... More

I was one of the group of 14 photographers that stayed at the hotel in March 2014. When we arrived we were immediately offered help with moving our luggage to our rooms. The staff were incredibly accommodating with our large group, very friendly and helpful with any and every request we made. We were made to feel absolutely welcome. I... More

A friendly little hotel on the beautiful Island of Lewis - ideally situated for touring and sightseeing. Service with a smile - nothing seemed too much trouble. Food is simple but well cooked and delicious. Breakfast is hearty and an ideal start to the day. Room was clean and comfortable.

We stayed here as part of a group of 14 photographers for 5 nights in March. A very clean and comfortable family run hotel where the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and look after you. Catering for this large group was never a problem with excellent service and great humour at all meals. A... More

Stayed at the Doune Braes with my daughter while we visited relatives for a family reunion. We had a very comfortable room with a view of the water and the hills beyond. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the hotel had a comfortable home from home feel. We had an excellent full Scottish breakfast and sat for... More
