Very good welcome by Andy the owner. We arrived on a Sunday when everything is closed on the isle of Lewis. We were served a delicious dinner anyway. The hotel is very remote next to a cliff. The double room were we stayed was not worth the value. The quality of the mattress was poor and we couldn't sleep very... More

We did not find anything especially awful but neither did we perhaps find the weird and wonderful we were looking forward to which was bit disappointing. The food was fine especially given the location but the atmosphere in the restaurant we found to be rather more formal than expected as was the service at dinner. We were perhaps expecting more... Gallan Head was earlier a RAF-base. Now most of the perhaps 15 buildings are abandoned and in different stage of decline.Fortunately The Gallan Hotel turns the back to this distress and instead there is a wounderful view from the Hotel over the bay, the ocean and the lovely Scottish landscape. Our rooms were small but clean, the day room and... More

My wife and I and a friend stayed here for three nights in a spacious family room and a double room. A wonderfully peaceful place with sea views from the windows of both our bedrooms. Friendly welcome, excellent service, and no supplement for single occupancy of the double room. The breakfasts were superb. There aren't many places to eat in... More

Simply stylish, comfortable & cosy rooms right at the edge of Scotland! An amazing location, beaten only by the food - FANTASTIC! Andy made a big effort to make sure I could enjoy his cooking, while meeting my gluten free diet requirements. All the staff were very friendly, and willing to do anything they could to make our stay enjoyable.... More

Just spent 2 nights on Lewis at Gallan Head. Superior service and food and very reasonable costs. The rooms are all newly referbished and very comfortable and warm. If you want to get away from it all, but be pampered in a lovely setting try this. Cannot wait to visit again. More

Stayed for two nights with my wife. The location of this place is its best feature. Remote just doesn't sum it up. So the place itself well the restaurant isn't bad but its not gastronomic..the bar and lounge area is pretty decent and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The problem is the rooms let it down. Tiny bedrooms with... More

In fairness, we wouldn't call Gallan Head 'Average' but 'very good' seems a little generous, so we'd go with 'good'. We did enjoy our stay at Gallan Head, the room was quite basic, and the shower room was disappointing, mainly as it was a little grubby and poorly lit, our sink was also extremely noisy when water flowed down the...
