This campsite is situated in a lovely location on the beach, and with even the most basic and usual facilities this would undoubtedly be a five star review. Frustratingly, the location is an undoubted draw for people visiting Islay, so I suspect the owners have little incentive to improve the site. I feel most of the - even negative -... More

We just returned from 3 nights at Kintra Farm campsite. This is a beautiful campsite where you can pitch your tent on dunes overlooking the beach. This is not "glamping", but great camping. We bought a bag of wood and some peat and built a fire on the beach. The facilities are basic. The site was not super busy so... More

You need to understand what you want from a camping loaction before you commit to staying here. This is a fantastic place with just the best views and you really feel away from it all. This is just what we love, but if you want flat fields with kids facilities, go elsewhere! I don't agree with other comments that there... More

We stayed in one of the self catering cottages cost over £700, it was not worth the money! Charged a 5 star price for a 2/3 star place. Teeny kitchen, towels not supplied and had to pay extra for electricity. Owners very poor attitude.

Most of the reviews here give an accurate impression of Kintra Farm campsite, so I will limit myself to some constructive criticisms. 1. The water in the showers is lovely and hot until about 9.30am and then goes horribly chilly and cold. 2. The campsite is large, but much of the land is too steep or overgrown to be used.... More

The farm is in a wonderful setting with a beach that stretches a mile or more and faces west for some of the most beautiful sunsets. Self-catering, B&B, or camping this is a splendid place to base yourself to explore Islay. The B&B is very comfortable, with private bathrooms or ensuite, and the use of 2 sitting rooms, one with... There are lots of places in Scotland where you can camp wild right by beautiful beaches, but Kintra Farm has all that plus just enough facilities to make a difference. It's a glorious location with pitches among the dunes overlooking Laggan Bay. However, the facilities are fairly basic. Real campers will love it, but don't go if you're looking for... More

If I was reviewing the location and view it would be a five star, wow! Right by the beach overlooking the bay it's very idyllic and peaceful. Just be prepared for the midges! The facilities let the site down. 1 shower per gender and the water supply comes from a bore hole so needs boiled before consumption. Lots and lots... More

If you are considering staying at Kintra Farm, be aware you need to to take your own drinking water. The water on site is Bore water, so drinkable but you are advised to boil it. We played safe and bought bottled water from the co-op. The facilities are basic, and they could do with more showers, one for each sex... More

So....can't really argue with most of the other reviewers, but..... There are two campsites on Islay; Kintra Farm, which is wild camping in amongst sand dunes just above a 7km sandy beach amidst wildlife of all sorts, but with basic shower, toilet facilities etc, or the other one near Port Charlotte, which is basically camping on a football pitch in...
