Most of the reviews here give an accurate impression of Kintra Farm campsite, so I will limit myself to some constructive criticisms. 1. The water in the showers is lovely and hot until about 9.30am and then goes horribly chilly and cold. 2. The campsite is large, but much of the land is too steep or overgrown to be used.... More

The farm is in a wonderful setting with a beach that stretches a mile or more and faces west for some of the most beautiful sunsets. Self-catering, B&B, or camping this is a splendid place to base yourself to explore Islay. The B&B is very comfortable, with private bathrooms or ensuite, and the use of 2 sitting rooms, one with... There are lots of places in Scotland where you can camp wild right by beautiful beaches, but Kintra Farm has all that plus just enough facilities to make a difference. It's a glorious location with pitches among the dunes overlooking Laggan Bay. However, the facilities are fairly basic. Real campers will love it, but don't go if you're looking for... More

If I was reviewing the location and view it would be a five star, wow! Right by the beach overlooking the bay it's very idyllic and peaceful. Just be prepared for the midges! The facilities let the site down. 1 shower per gender and the water supply comes from a bore hole so needs boiled before consumption. Lots and lots... More

If you are considering staying at Kintra Farm, be aware you need to to take your own drinking water. The water on site is Bore water, so drinkable but you are advised to boil it. We played safe and bought bottled water from the co-op. The facilities are basic, and they could do with more showers, one for each sex... More

So....can't really argue with most of the other reviewers, but..... There are two campsites on Islay; Kintra Farm, which is wild camping in amongst sand dunes just above a 7km sandy beach amidst wildlife of all sorts, but with basic shower, toilet facilities etc, or the other one near Port Charlotte, which is basically camping on a football pitch in... Great position in the dunes, marred by the multitude of officious notices (information overload and some out of date) and attitude of owners wife. Facilities are basic and for the size of site inadequate (1 male and female shower).

What a place! As I was arriving later my girlfriend had to set up camp. Our host was very helpful and allowed us to register the next day after showing Christine the rules etc. Perfect spot right on the beach with a good breeze to keep the midge at bay. Access to the shower/toilets is 24hrs as is the hot... More

This is great location. The site is quite small and there are rules, many rules, but we had not problems. Site was clean and tidy and well maintained. No electric hook ups - but you are here to get away from it all, and you can!

There is a bit of an overload of signs and notices when you arrive and a rather bizarre map with scribbled names / vehicles / arrival / leave info scribbled thereon. You better park where you say you will or else! However, the location cannot be beaten. I don't think there are any facilities, but we were self contained including... More
