I camped here on a cycling tour of the island. I found the owner pleasant enough and the facilities perfectly adequate given that it is located on a remote beach in the far north west of the uk. Good hot shower and washing facilities. The outstanding thing about this place is the location; I suppose I was lucky camping at... More

Avoid this cottage and avoid this site, whether camping, B & B or in any of the cottages!!!! We stayed in Traigh Cottage the week between Christmas and New Year and had high hopes of a lovely relaxing week. We encountered one problem after another and the owners were useless! To start with we were told by Mrs. M that... More

I enjoyed the most wonderful solo camping trip here in July, with the waves on my doorstep and the rain (then the sun, then the rain! ;)) in my face. I just can't understand why people go camping and expect 5* boutique hotels - that's not the deal! If you want stunning scenery, then you will have to accept basic... More

The view as you come into the campsite is spectacular, and we had very high hopes about our stay at Kintra Farm. Overview: - High price - we wish we had just free camped. - NO drinking water available. To repeat: NO drinking water available. Just one kettle to boil water for ~200 people. With an ominous sign warning of... More

This campsite is situated in a lovely location on the beach, and with even the most basic and usual facilities this would undoubtedly be a five star review. Frustratingly, the location is an undoubted draw for people visiting Islay, so I suspect the owners have little incentive to improve the site. I feel most of the - even negative -... More

We just returned from 3 nights at Kintra Farm campsite. This is a beautiful campsite where you can pitch your tent on dunes overlooking the beach. This is not "glamping", but great camping. We bought a bag of wood and some peat and built a fire on the beach. The facilities are basic. The site was not super busy so... More

You need to understand what you want from a camping loaction before you commit to staying here. This is a fantastic place with just the best views and you really feel away from it all. This is just what we love, but if you want flat fields with kids facilities, go elsewhere! I don't agree with other comments that there... More

We stayed in one of the self catering cottages cost over £700, it was not worth the money! Charged a 5 star price for a 2/3 star place. Teeny kitchen, towels not supplied and had to pay extra for electricity. Owners very poor attitude.

Most of the reviews here give an accurate impression of Kintra Farm campsite, so I will limit myself to some constructive criticisms. 1. The water in the showers is lovely and hot until about 9.30am and then goes horribly chilly and cold. 2. The campsite is large, but much of the land is too steep or overgrown to be used.... More

The farm is in a wonderful setting with a beach that stretches a mile or more and faces west for some of the most beautiful sunsets. Self-catering, B&B, or camping this is a splendid place to base yourself to explore Islay. The B&B is very comfortable, with private bathrooms or ensuite, and the use of 2 sitting rooms, one with...
