Had a meal here as part of a group of eight. Got off to a bad start, staff had no record of our booking but managed to squeeze us in. Restaurant was very busy on a Saturday night at the start of the feis ile so food was perhaps below normal standards but I shared the seafood platter for 2... More

Visited Islay late April for a week of Whisky tasting. Good central position in Port Ellen so easy to reach. Distinctive building so easy to find. Eat at the hotel every night. Great food, good beers, large selection of whiskies, good service and great ambiance. Clean loos too!

Hotel has been recently refurbished and provides a good standard of accommodation. Stayed for 3 nights in a twin room. Great bathroom, beds were very comfortable, breakfast was very good indeed, the staff were very helpful and friendly and the restaurant serves great food. There's also a nice bar which has live music at weekends. As a premium priced hotel... More

Arrived here on a Friday night for some drinks and dinner in the bar. Service was very, very slow. Took about two hours to get to our main course. The staff varied from just plain inattentive to rude at times. Food, when it eventually came was generally just average. There are far better places in Islay.

We had along sail from Northern Ireland to Islay and arrived tired and a bit grumpy. There was a dispute over buying lobster from the fishing boat beside us but the end result was so wonderful that peace was restored. We wandered the few yards to the Islay Hotel. It was re-constructed a few years ago but so well that... More

A very nice and newly renovated hotel. Nice rooms, good service and a good restaurant. It goes without saying that the selection of single malts in their bar is superb. A very good location as well if you're planning a destillery tour to Arbeg, Lagavulin or Laproig.

Booked by my company, this hotel turned out to be a real gem. The room was excellent, the bed was really comfortable. The staff were freindly and attentive and the food was first class. I will be back here as soon as I can.

We stayed here for a week as part of group on a birdwatching holiday. The food is good but often took a long time to come. On a number of occasions people left the table before some of the courses arrived. The bathroom in our room was elegant but not practical. The mirror was not above the sink. We were... More

Within minutes of ferry terminal to Kennacraig and only 21 miles to alternative ferry terminal to North of island. A whisky lover dream as very close to Laphroig and other distilleries. No lift to second floor only possible drawback
