I have recently had a meal at The Islay Hotel and could not fault it! Having recently heard some awful reviews we decided to go and have a look for ourselves, I have to say the service and meal we received was the complete antithesis of recent poor reviews. Upon arrival our party of three were met by a lovely... More

i am a regular in the islay hotel and have eaten there many times. recently to my surprise i heard that the owners had sacked their head chef ( who seemed to be doing an amazing job) so being curious i took the husband along for a meal on saturday night just to see if the high standard that i... We had traveled to Islay for a wedding, the Hotel recently re built did not disappoint , another great stay for accommodation and food. We were disappointed that the Hotel did not have a Lounge, however one is being created in the extensive under build, which will greatly improve the facilities.

When walking in to the bar I waited twenty minutes for two soft drinks whilst a young lady waitress stood and done nothing. The young bartender who eventually served me was deliberately slow and slightly strange. My food took an eternity to arrive and there was no checkback and I didn't get a steak knife. Thankfully the overpriced meagre portions... More

Stayed for three nights for the principle reason of visiting the Laphroaig Distillery(FOL).What a great base this was for visiting the island. The service we received and the friendliness of all the staff we encountered was fantastic. Thankyou, hope to visit again soon:0)

We managed (again) to book an Islay restaurant at the same time as a party of 10/12. It was probably this which resulted in the slow service. When it did arrive the food was good. My red wine never did..... The seafood chowder was worth a go and the langoustines looked good. Order side dish of veg as not much... More

We had 4 nights in the Islay hotel in May 2014. Very comfortable room with good sized bathroom and Beatty on the front desk was really efficient at booking our distillery visits. What a shame that the weather was so poor but that is not something the Hotel has any control over. We ate in every night as there are... More

Lovely hotel, friendly staff and fabulous food! The room we had was top floor with views from two windows facing different sea views, spacious and had a great jacuzzi bath. Plenty of free parking outside on the road. Recommended!!

Unfortunately, although we'd booked two nights at this hotel, we were unable to make the first night due to a ferry cancellation. We called the hotel to let them know and they were very understanding (and didn't even charge us for last minute cancellation!!). I really wish we could've stayed longer and would love to go back. The hotel is... More

Chose this hotel for locale to the Cal-Mac ferry terminal and was delighted with the whole experience from check-in to check-out. A little on the pricey side, but the service and standard make these pale into lesser significance. We were delighted to be billeted in room No.8 which was large, but were even more ecstatic when we saw the size... More
