Having stayed here twice, each time for a week, with clients as a wildlife guide I am happy to recommend this as a place to stay while visiting the island. The staff were very friendly and courteous, the meals very tasty and varied; and the bar is VERY well stocked with whisky! The rooms were very comfortable and you'll find... More

My wife & I were booked to stay here after traveling to the island for the weekend. We had booked nearly 1 month in advance & had received an e mail from them confirming everything was good to go. When we arrive we had to call the caretaker by mobile as the hotel was closed & all the staff had... More

Stayed on Tues night and as a fairly regular visitor to Islay for work the Islay hotel was my favourite. Sad to say not so any more, the food used to be excellent but sadly no longer the case. on my previous trip I noticed that the standard had declined and menu choice was smaller but thought minor blip and... The options are limited on the island. The hotel is small, quaint and charming. The owner Roland is the nicest guy I have met in a long time. The food is good home cooked food. The bar has a good whisky selection and whisky is the main reason people come to this island.

Lovely spacious hotel in beautiful location. Excellent platinum room with lots of space, Jacuzzi and great views. Very friendly staff, great food. Good selection for breakfast or the option of a made to order cooked breakfast. Would definitely return.

Stayed at the Islay Hotel for one night at beginning of December. My son and I were visiting the island for the first time and moving onto Dura to stay over the next night. I had only booked the hotel via a third party internet site earlier that morning and we were delighted with the hotel on our arrival. We... More

Having travelled to islay for many years port Ellen was yearning for a decent hotel. .no offence anyone else but... The islay hotel is wonderfully luxurious. Every room I have stayed in over the years has been spacious. .was never sure why the bathrooms are wet rooms, but hey. .always clean and dry the next day. .The food has always... More

Lovely hotel with character and imaginative touches. Loved the atmosphere in the bar and the food was great. The room was excellent with all comforts. Would stay again thanks to the friendly welcome - an Islay tradition!

We stopped at the Islay Hotel for a drink with a view of staying for dinner. We walked into the hotel which was recently renovated to a modern and relatively high standard. The restaurant appeared to be well presented and we looked forward to eating here. We found unfortunately the staff to be very rude, disinterested and detached. We asked... More

We found this hotel on TripAdvisor and booked it for a 2 day stay for our trip to Islay. The hotel is clean, recently renovated, and well cared for. The elevator only goes to the second level, there are 3 rooms upstairs on level III. Hotel has 12 rooms with a very nice restaurant with very good food. The staff... More
