Mary and Donald are the perfect hosts, very comfortable rooms ,spotless and modern bathrooms. The breakfast was excellent. Mary made us feel very welcome, had to leave early before breakfast on last day to catch ferry, but was provided with an excellent lunch bag. Very good value.

It was a thouroughly pleasant experience to stay at this B&B, Mary Mackay is the perfect host and made us feel very welcome. The room was spotless and the cozy lounge downstairs was a perfect place to finish the evening after a long day afield. A solid Scottish breakfast was served in the morning. Visiting Islay from Norway was a... More

We stayed two nights at the Trout Fly Guest House and had a wonderful experience. The rooms are nice, the breakfast is great, and the large guest lounge was just what I needed at the end of the day to download pictures and journal about my day. Mary could not have been more welcoming or helpful to her guests. I... More

We booked into the Trout Fly after receiving a wedding invite to be held in Port Ellen, this was a year in advance and the first place I looked at. After reading excellent reviews on the BnB we didn't need to look elsewhere. We booked 2 nights in the double room. On arrival in Islay, we took a short stroll... More

Popped over to Islay to play the wonderful Machrie golf course.Booked into the Trout Fly Guest House and had a great stay. Easy walk from the ferry at Port Ellen and maybe a twenty minute drive from Port Askaig ferry terminal. Friendly welcome from Mary who can give good advice on things to see and do on Islay.Rooms were spotlessly... More

The Trout Fly Guest House was a great place to stay if you are coming to Islay to taste whisky. The location could not be better for walking to three distilleries. You can easily walk to the guest house from the ferry as well. Mary was very friendly, welcoming, and she gave us a lift out to the distilleries so... More

I have wanted to go to Islay for a while, because I love the Whisky from there, and I love Scotland... so I figured I would enjoy Islay. I could not have been more right... I took a friend and we had an absolutely incredible time on Islay. Mary at the Trout Fly really helped out by giving us advice,... More

Excellent, friendly and helpful host and en-suite rooms with all the amenities you'd expect. Very happy, wish I'd been there longer - would stay here again and recommend you do too. If you're taking an early ferry in or out of Islay it's a no-brainer to stay in clean comfort at The Trout Fly in Port Ellen, but there are... More
