It is the only youth hostel in Isle of Islay, where is the best place for whiskey. I can feel the real nature of Scotland. Though here is a somewhat isolated place from the main island of UK, the host and the hostess are very globalized staffs and had lots of experience in Asia. The Bruichladdich distillery is within a... More

Second visit and this time stayed in a private room. I've stayed in hotels that didn't have rooms as good as this - compact but clean, comfy and warm. Really cosy. The hostel has plenty of space: big sitting room with a tv, super clean and we'll equipped kitchen. Best of all, you get to meet folks from all over... More

The lovely loch side location gives this hotel a great start and from the moment you walk in, you are met with warm, attentive service. The lounge was comfortable and roomy, the bar felt like a proper pub, the bedroom was small but decorated well. The great service continued over a two very well prepared dinners and breakfast. This must... More

I had the good fortune of staying at this wonderful hotel for a week and it was unforgettable. Fells like a cozy 19th century inn, with everything exceptionally clean and well kept. Room was spacious, bed exceptional, bathroom very impressive. Staff was super friendly, absolutely top shelf. Everyone greets you with a smile and treats you like royalty - or... More

I stayed at the hostel plenty of times and it's always been great. The owners are absolutely lovely people and make you feel instantly at home. There's comfy beds and the hostel is spotlessly clean. Good breakfast even though it was a bit expensive for my liking. There's a spacious kitchen/ dining room and a nice wee lounge room. And... More

Wonderful views from hotel, brilliant bar, sandy beaches outside- what more could you ask for. Clearly popular with Swedish for some reason - or is that because of the whisky. Very very good experience. Our best Island experience

I stayed here for 3 nights on a cycling trip over from Glasgow. The hostel was clean and well-equipped. The kitchen had everything I needed for cooking. It's in a good location in Port Charlotte, near the Hotel for food, and a Spar for some bits and bobs. I would do as other suggest though and perhaps do a bigger... More

Four of us ate here during July and they were very busy but happily accommodated us in the conservatory restaurant. Well priced meal. Lots of local seafood. There was the added bonus of live music in the cosy upstairs bar too.

This is a hostel with all you could ever want and more. Comfortable rooms with good facilities. A kitchen that overlooks the beach and plenty of space to rest/ cook/ dine, it is well equipped to serve a range of groups staying on Islay. Highly recommended.
