Four of us ate here during July and they were very busy but happily accommodated us in the conservatory restaurant. Well priced meal. Lots of local seafood. There was the added bonus of live music in the cosy upstairs bar too.

Hello, Thanks so much for the review, but we cant claim this one, we don't offer evening meals at Port Charlotte Youth hostel, I think this review belongs to our friends along the road at the Port Charlotte Hotel. Lorna Padden More

This is a hostel with all you could ever want and more. Comfortable rooms with good facilities. A kitchen that overlooks the beach and plenty of space to rest/ cook/ dine, it is well equipped to serve a range of groups staying on Islay. Highly recommended.

A truly lovely stay! Myself and a large group of friends descended on the hostel and were welcomed with open arms! Breathtaking views from the kitchen/dining room/lounge areas, helped by incredible weather for mid October! Great breakfast and kitchen facilities. Very friendly reception and help from the owners. Many thanks

Me and a group of 11 friends recently stayed here for one night as part of a tour of Islay and Jura's whiskey distilleries. Lorna and Karl were incredibly helpful and welcoming from the beginning and went beyond just helping with our stay with them but also advising me on tips for the whole trip during the planning stages. Advice... More

Way too many people think of a hostel as some kind of hang out for tree huggers straight out of Uni. Nothing could be further from the truth...and this hostel demonstrates that. Its really clean - the kitchen was huge and spotless all the time. The rooms are equally tidy and well kept. I slept like a log on the... More

Spent three nights here and really enjoyed the experience. This was mainly due to the care, attentiveness and friendliness of Karl and Lorna who run it. They were so helpful, greeted me by name whenever they saw me and Karl told me that Lorna wished me safe travelling on the day I left even though she wasn't there. The hostel... More

Spent 3 days on Islay and ended up staying here for the duration. Was meant to be camping but tent burst and the rain was heavy, we turned to the youth hostel for help and were welcomed with open arms. Very clean friendly atmosphere, we were made to feel at home by Lorna and Karl who run the place. The... More

Very friendly staff, clean upscale hostel. Nicest hostel I have ever been in and nicer than the one on Skye. so worth the cheap cheap cost. We were four workign adult friends in our 30's and got one quad room to share. Couldent have been happier.

Lorna and Karl the hostel owners went out of their way to make us feel special. They were so friendly and welcoming, gave great local tips, helped us with laundry, even produced soya milk when we needed it. Enjoyed the lovely filter coffee for breakfast. Rooms were very good as were the bathrooms and kitchen and lounge area. What a... More

I had an amazing 1st time in Islay with my pal and her mum. They were having a trip down memory lane but was my 1st. It was amazing, sun was shining although cold and the youth hostel was great. Nice clean room with comfortable beds, walls were a bit thin as could hear chap next door snoring but hey... More
