From check in to departure this was the best stay we have had in a hotel of this class. A cup of tea before breakfast was offered every morning and traditional Scottish tablet with a dram before bed just added the excellent hospitality offered throughout our 5 night stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was extremely nice, but could probably do with a little work in some areas (when I think about the price we paid). The drapes and cover on the bed were lovely, but there were a couple of areas where the paint needed touching up, and some tiles were a little loose in the... More

Who said, "You get what you pay for"? If only this was true in this case. The hotel itself is fine, but some aspects do not justify the £200+ we paid per night. The room was small but tastefully furnished in the Victorian style. Everything was well maintained and the view was wonderful. But, for the price charged, a bed... More

This t hotel gets better and better. We've n been there several times and out r stay is never less than first class. Try and get there on a Wednesday and/or Sunday if you enjoy live music. The food is always first class as is the selection of malts.

We visited the hotel at the beginning of June, when all the Islay residents assured us the weather was usually wonderful. Unfortunately for us when we stayed the weather couldn't have been much worse with temperatures in single figures, rain pelting down and winds so high that all the ferries to the island were suspended and it was effectively cut-off.... Thank you for your lovely review. I am sorry the weather was so inclement during your visit it was a poor start to the month. At last we are enjoying some warm sunshine and guests are able to relax out on the patio overlooking the sea and take in the wonderful view. More

The room size are consistent with a building of this age, but have been renovated beautifully. The bathroom was spacious and modern. The linens and beds were excellent. The owners are wonderful people and are investing their hearts and wallets into making a the hotel a must stop if you are visiting Islay. A friend who is a travel agent... More

We stayed 4 days at this hotel and were not impressed: - The rooms are small - Too much 'stuff' in the rooms - Beds are very small - Wifi is either not working or very slow - Mismatched furniture or broken furniture - No space in the bathroom - Food / Menu is OK (not special) - Breakfast is... Had a great week staying here for a week while working on Islay. Rooms are lovely, staff extremely nice and food good. The bar is lively and fun too without being too hectic. Would highly recommend. Only quibble would be that breakfast doesn't start till 8am which is quite late but that is a minor point ! It's great to... More

Before I go on let's concentrate on the positive this is a lovely hotel.. wonderful attentive staff, efficient and accommodating. Excellent wine list and fantastic menu.. We had a wonderful meal with fantastic touches like the whiskey selection and homemade fudge with the coffees. However had oysters to start and must have had a bad one as I spent all... More

In response to your review please accept my sincere sympathy for your unfortunate illness following dinner with us. We have meticulous and thorough food safety procedures in place and have been accredited by Argyle & Bute council's food safety scheme. Our oysters are... More

Right down to the sugar cubes and butter, I cannot fault this charming hotel. Super rooms, super food, super service. I feel completely rested. The Breakfast must surely be one of the best in Scotland. Hope come back soon.
