We felt welcome and at home from the moment we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble for Margaret and Blair. The rooms are meticulously prepared and very comfortable. Everything you could need appears to have been thought of and provided. Margaret's cooking is to die for and her dinners on Tuesday and Thursday are simply not to be missed. There... more

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kilmeny House. We stayed in the suite which had a little sitting area in addition to a lovely bedroom and huge bathroom. It was immaculate and beautifully decorated. The bedspread was especially woven by a local mill owner who had created the tartans and fabrics for Brave Heart. The owners Margaret and Blair are... more

The rating system on Trip Advisor must have a gremlin as Kilmeny House has 26 excellent reviews yet does not come out on top. My review is only adding to the list, as There is nothing you can fault Kilmeny House for. Location is great for all Islay has to offer and the rooms are very comfortable and beautifully designed.... more

It's perhaps reassuring to stay in hotels where you know in advance what the rooms are like with good quality MDF furniture, hospitality trays with little tubs of UHT milk and a single packet of shortbread biscuits. Maybe you like a choice at breakfast where there are sealed mini packets of corn flakes or cocoa pops laid out in neat... more

We have just returned from 4 nights at Kilmeny Country House on Islay and although I have read many reviews this is the first time I have been moved to write one. We could not fault the accommodation offered this is not your average B&B. The breakfasts were of the highest standard we have found anywhere we have travelled however... more

We have already rebooked!!!! I think that sums up what we think of Kilmeny...absolutely delightful. Having been to Islay many times before, we had always opted for one of the more luxurious self-catering apartments on the Island (and on one occasion a good-sized hotel not far from the airport). Well, thank goodness I went on to Trip Advisor last year... more

Wow! My husband and I decided to visit Islay last summer to explore the many Distillery delights and to get some last minute loch fishing in. The whisky was of course wonderful and Loch Finlaggan was quite beautiful...but...what an absolute treasure we uncovered at Kilmeny. A fabulously located country house in the heart of the island with a gem of... more

Stayed here for three nights and enjoyed it very much. The service is fantastic. The place is spotless. The breakfast the best I ever had anywhere. These are hardworking people who try their very best to make their home your home for the period of your stay. Fantastic. more

We have just had a most enjoyable stay at Kilmeny Guest House at Ballygrant on the Isle of Islay. On arrival Margaret showed us into her lovely warm lounge (fire blazing) and sat and had a chat with us, which made us feel very relaxed and welcome. Margaret showed us to our suit and while we put our luggage into... more

My husband and I had a very pleasant stay at Kilmeny House and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. We loved it. Landlady Margaret is lovely and a fantastic cook. Everything what comes to the table here is home made and the standard is very high. Every thing is beautifully clean and well cared for. The smell of... more
