Islay is a magic place and Kilmeny is a gem. We stayed there 2 nights and had a very good experience. From booking time Margaret was very helpful and was there when we arrived after 9pm. Home made cakes and Dram was a nice welcome. The suite was very nice, internet was not wi-fi but the cable was not too... more

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at the Kilmeny Country House and hated to leave. It started from the moment we contacted Margaret to make reservations. In addition to being very responsive, she was very helpful in making tour reservations at several of the distilleries. When we arrived we received a very warm welcome and were introduced to the... more

Stayed 3 nights over long weekend for my wife's 40th. This is simply the best B&B we have ever stayed at. Every detail has been thought of and the standards of presentation, cleanliness, service, and food are all, well, perfect. Margaret and Blair make you feel instantly at ease, like staying with long lost family. We had the suite which... more

It is hard find the proper superlatives to describe to the wonderful experience we found at Kilmeny Country House. This house exemplifies the reasons one stays in a Bed and Breakfast. You enter up the country road, past the pastures of sheep and cattle. Margaret and Blair are warm and welcoming. They are excellent, experienced hosts. Relaxed. Gracious. Our room... more

We travel frequently and often stay in top-end B&Bs. Kilmeny has to rank close to the top of the many places we have stayed in. It's a gorgeous setting on a wonderful island and Margaret and Blair are wonderful hosts. Our room was spectacular - large and well appointed with a great view. Breakfasts were special and the conversation with... more

Our journey commenced before we arrived to Kilmeny Country House by our departure from our home in Perthshire. We had to book well in advance to secure the suite at Kilmeny Country House as it is a very popular suite and as it was our honeymoon, albeit our second honeymoon, we wanted it to be perfect including our long drive... more

Kilmeny House sits on an outcrop of manicured garden and trees with an eyecatching panoramic view across the countryside. The immaculate decor inside is of a very high standard and is complemented by the warm, friendly welcome of hostess Margaret, whose texture design and food variation are worth savouring. A veritable treasure! more

We felt welcome and at home from the moment we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble for Margaret and Blair. The rooms are meticulously prepared and very comfortable. Everything you could need appears to have been thought of and provided. Margaret's cooking is to die for and her dinners on Tuesday and Thursday are simply not to be missed. There... more

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kilmeny House. We stayed in the suite which had a little sitting area in addition to a lovely bedroom and huge bathroom. It was immaculate and beautifully decorated. The bedspread was especially woven by a local mill owner who had created the tartans and fabrics for Brave Heart. The owners Margaret and Blair are... more

The rating system on Trip Advisor must have a gremlin as Kilmeny House has 26 excellent reviews yet does not come out on top. My review is only adding to the list, as There is nothing you can fault Kilmeny House for. Location is great for all Islay has to offer and the rooms are very comfortable and beautifully designed.... more
