Stayed for a few nights during the whisky festival, the busiest week of the year on Isaly. Very friendly staff, and good enough food and service. Beatifully located resturant, right on the Loch Indaal shore. Given the size of the village, our expectations were met and a bit more. Also, its under new management so the refurnish might just happen... More

My wife and daughter have dined here several times but today was my first visit. Well impressed by the location and the decor and would love to wake up looking over that loch from a lodge! Afternoon tea was the best I've found in Scotland and yes, we've tried quite a few as my other reviews will relate. The restaurant... More

Evening meal with spectacular view across Loch Indaal was spoiled by extremely slow service and an hour wait for our main course. This place is a busy tourist destination and there were clearly not enough staff in the kitchen or the waitresses were inexperienced. Food was okay but unexplained delays spoiled it. No surprise that the other restaurants in town... More

Ordered a takeaway from this place and will never be ordering again.... 1. Food took almost an hour 2. Chicken burgers were freezing in the middle with water pouring out of them 3. Chicken goujons werent cooked, batter was cooked on the outside but raw in the middle 4. Onion rings were dripping in grease and again batter was cooked... More

I stayed at the Lochside for 2 nights just after Christmas. It has the feel of a family run hotel and the staff were all excellent. This is not a luxury hotel, if you want that go to the Port Charlotte Hotel, but why would you go to beautiful Islay looking for luxury? The hotel has a great location in... More

Staff were lovely, especially in the bar where we enjoyed a few whiskys one evening. However, the room was very small and in desperate need of a makeover. Bathroom was exceptionally small and very shabby. Has a lot of potential this place, but needs a good refurb. Dining room excellent with views over the bay, and the breakfast was excellent.

We had to wait to check in to our accomodation for the week so we decided to have a quick something to eat in Bowmore. We found the Lochside Hotel and since they had Wifi we decided to go there. All we wanted to be honest was a bowl of soup and they were more than happy to oblige. It... More

We had 2 nights here in a room with superb views overlooking the loch and small harbour. We could watch the fishing boats depart and enjoy the glorious sunsets from the conservatory restaurant which served excellent food and was very popular with the locals too. There were a lot of foreign visitors also while we were there. There is an... More

We stayed at the Lochside Hotel during the 2014 Whiskey and Gaelic festival, for which it was a perfect base. The view from our room was stunning - waking up to the sun streaming in. The big room was warm and clean. It could do with some updating but it was perfectly functional. The staff were super helpful the whole... More
