Staff were lovely, especially in the bar where we enjoyed a few whiskys one evening. However, the room was very small and in desperate need of a makeover. Bathroom was exceptionally small and very shabby. Has a lot of potential this place, but needs a good refurb. Dining room excellent with views over the bay, and the breakfast was excellent.

We had to wait to check in to our accomodation for the week so we decided to have a quick something to eat in Bowmore. We found the Lochside Hotel and since they had Wifi we decided to go there. All we wanted to be honest was a bowl of soup and they were more than happy to oblige. It... More

We had 2 nights here in a room with superb views overlooking the loch and small harbour. We could watch the fishing boats depart and enjoy the glorious sunsets from the conservatory restaurant which served excellent food and was very popular with the locals too. There were a lot of foreign visitors also while we were there. There is an... More

We stayed at the Lochside Hotel during the 2014 Whiskey and Gaelic festival, for which it was a perfect base. The view from our room was stunning - waking up to the sun streaming in. The big room was warm and clean. It could do with some updating but it was perfectly functional. The staff were super helpful the whole... More

I stayed here for two nights on business. The location, from the front, looks ordinarily, however the view from my bedroom was just stunning. The harbour to the left and the water coming up almost to the food. Just watching the tide turn was mesmerising. The day I arrived there was a power cut and the entire island plus the... More

We were on a cycling trip to Jura and Islay and when planning the trip I looked for a B&B for a night in Bowmore. Many places were booked up but The Lochside had a double bedded room available for the night in question. The Lochside was not the first accommodation I tried, partly because it is unusual in not... My husband and I were in Islay for two nights and ate here for dinner one of the nights. My husband had scallops in a garlic-buttery sauce and I had the langoustines. These dishes came with a big bowl of yummy vegetables for us to share. I had never had langoustines and there was one order left, so I got... More

Booked two rooms for two nights. Rooms are a bit tired and could do with redecoration and upgrading when/if funds permit. Staff, however, were very friendly and helpful and food is excellent - portions huge! Whisky selection is amazing. Seafront location right in centre of Bowmore couldn't be better. Definitely good value and would stay here again.

Stayed here for one night in a very small double room. There was very little room within the room itself. The bathroom had an internally plumbed toilet which came on during the night. The bathroom had no floor coverings and was in serious need of a makeover never mind for hygiene reasons with no flooring. The shower cubicle was very... More
