Even the most demanding member of our group had no complaints about this family run business - an unusual, probably unique, situation. Of particular note is the variety of freshly cooked to order breakfasts. Economy tip - if you have the 'full breakfast' you can skip lunch, and possibly dinner. One caveat - it may not be the best place... More

It is a B&B and the stay was wonderful. Big rooms, quite tastefully done and what a view.. It was comfortable and walking distance from the Bowmore distillery. Andrew was a wonderful host and well informed on Islay. He is a good cook and you can enjoy the breakfast by the window with a spectacular view of the sea. We... More

Bowmore House is without doubt one of the finest guest houses we have stayed in. The rooms are large, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The breakfast is delicious and substantial and compliments the whisky perfectly! Andrew and Alison are warm and friendly hosts who really do look after their guests, especially if you are travelling with children. If you are... More

Some of my ancestors originated from Isle of Islay .I was planning on a private visit to the island but decided that it would be too complicated to get around .I had already decided to stay at Bowmore House because of the brilliant reviews made here at TA .Instead, I cancelled and signed up for a Scottish Routes Whisky Tour... A simply wonderful stay at this delightful old B&B on this beautiful and wild whisky island. A sea-view to die for, the best and biggest breakfast you could ever want, a warm welcome by hosts who make you feel part of the family, a short walk from the centre (and distillery!) of Bowmore and comfortable rooms. Perfect! We stayed in... More

We were just at the Bowmore house for a Whiskey Tour of Islay. The place is really wonderful. Andrew and Alison were incredibly nice and accomodating. The room was comfortable and very nice. It is a quick walk (maybe two minutes) to the grocery store and Bowmore distillery. The English breakfast was quite delicious and a great way to start... More

This is a brilliant place to stay for exploring Islay. Andrew and Alison made us feel very welcome, particularly the cup of tea and a 'wee dram' on arrival. The accommodation is spacious and airy and we loved having a room overlooking the sea. Breakfast in the dining room with a sea view are a special delight (if only every... More

Wow! From the minute my friend and I arrived to this beautiful property, the owners Allison and Andrew made us feel welcome and comfortable. All soon went out of her way to drive me to the hospital at 10pm and always with a smile. The breakfasts were fantastic and their love and knowledge if Islay is so apparent. They just... More

Andrew and Alison have done a fantastic job of making such a huge house into a wonderfully comfortable place to stay. We arrived while the island was in a power cut and a couple of the Hydro boys stayed as well. We stayed in room 1 (I think), anyway, the big one over the breakfast room. Acres of space to... More

Oh, but if every guest house would be half this good! I have just come back from an eight day stay at the Bowmore House and the memories are still intense! The Isle of Islay is a place of great whisky, but it is also a gorgeous island with a varied, rugged landscape -- wonderful for hiking or exploring by... More
