We celebrated Hogmanay 2015/6 on Islay and stayed in the Bowmore hotel in a newly refurbished room. it was a bit crowded for just the two of us in a family room containing a double bed and four bunk beds - sleep a family of 6. Not much room to move around in the room but the bunk beds made... More

Getting to Islay to sip on a smooth single malt has been on the bucket list for a while and a few months back I got there and I'm so glad I did. As part of a 3 week golf tour around Scootland a mate and i ferried over to Islay after a sunny round at Macrihanish GC and a... More

Stayed at the Bowmore Hotel as part of a bigger group for a long weekend. We had one of the newly refurbished rooms - very nicely appointed and comfortable for our stay. I think the hotel will benefit from the renovation planned for the other rooms - the rest of our party were in the older rooms and so their... More

If you are looking for a comfortable ,quiet, clean and up to date hotel then don't stay here. Lulled into a false sense of security with the beautiful decor of the restaurant area. As soon as you go upstairs it's like walking back 30 years. Worn carpets, dated damaged furniture, shabby decor, disgusting mound riddled bathroom with the added extra... More

I am sorry you felt you had to write such a negative review. Our rooms are clean and tidy and infact we are upgrading three more of our rooms this week. I have passed your comments to my breakfast staff. Last weekend was a fundraising night by the staff at the co operative but the music did stop at 1am... More

This hotel is very central and the owners and staff are so friendly and helpful. The food is great, with large portions and a good choice on the menu. The room we had was quite small, and although it was clean,it could do with a bit of refurbishment, especially in the bathroom. Breakfast was good if you like the full Scottish with haggis and... More

We stayed in selfcatering nearby and visited the bar every day. Lucci and Peter are the best hosts. Thank you very much for a very special time. We promised to come back - and we will. We are looking forward to seeing you and the locales agiain.

The Bowmore Hotel provides a rare combination of our favourite things. The staff are really friendly, the food is absolutely brilliant and - best of all - it is truly dog friendly - with options to eat in the public bar, outside decking area, or - best of all - garden area that gives your pet sniffing-and-mooching territory while you... Lovely friendly family atmosphere. Rooms are good and the food is fantastic. Ideally located near the shops and distillery. Very welcoming and all the staff talkative and very helpful. Love this place and can't wait to get back. Thanks for the warm hospitality.

We went here for the first time last year and now it will be on are to do list any time we go to Islay. You get a smile and a warm welcome any time of the day, when you come in. The food in the restaurant is first class.

I stayed overnight at the Bowmore whilst working in Islay. Initial impressions of the hotel were very good. The hotel has had some rennovation done which is to a high standard. The check in chap was very friendly and got us to our rooms very quickly. The room itself was one of them that has not been rennovated yet. It... More
