Having read reviews after I had booked, I was extremely apprehensive but we all really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were small but really clean and the ensuite tiny but adequate. The owners and staff were so friendly and made us so welcome. Unfortunately we didn't eat there as we had booked elsewhere but heard great reports on the food.... More

This is a good place to eat and spend an evening with a large menu, decent quality food and a lively bar, that is sadly however only half the story. The hotel is spoiled by it's rooms which are a let down, they are poorly furnished, in need of a decor make over and the en suites are much too... More

My family and I stayed three nights at the Bowmore Hotel last weekend. I ran the Ardbeg Islay Half Marathon and we toured around the island. The four of us had the family room - Room 7 - with a double and bunk beds. The room was small, but had a great view over the garden and out to Loch... More

We stayed in the hotel for two nights in the "infamous" room 5 :). The hotel is lovely and the staff very friendly. We had two dinners in the restaurant. Both nights we enjoyed the food. The pub is also great. The room is indeed very small. Especially the bathroom. The bed is comfortable. They didn't clean our room after... More

A group of 8 lads 30+ were on a Whisky Stag do and stopped here... The place was awesome, reasonably priced, great food, even better craic and we were lucky enough to be visiting while they had a live band. Really enjoyable experience and great food. Nothing more to say really the staff were excellent as were the locals.

My wife and I have stayed here in the past and had a very comfortable stay. The food is incredibly good and loads of it. The staff are extremely friendly as are the owners Linda and Lucci. Recent work to the downstair rooms have made a huge difference and the dining room has an atmosphere all of its own. I... More

As others have commented, while the front of house, bar and restaurant were very pleasant, and the food was good, even though the vegetables were over-cooked, the accommodation was truly dreadful. We were also in the (supposedly) double room 5 - which is without doubt the smallest and most ridiculously designed room I have ever been asked to pay £110... More

I am really sorry you felt you had a bad experience. As I recall you checked in, later on had dinner which you said you enjoyed, went to bed, had breakfast and then decided you did not like the room. The time to decide that was when you arrived. You could easily have advised at that time you were going... More

Arriving at the Bowmore Hotel we enter a small hallway with lounge bar to the left and dining room to the right. All had been recently redecorated with generous use of attractive natural woods. At that point all is looking good and very much as the web-site suggested. Then we are shown to our twin-bedded room above the front door,... More

We received a friendly welcome, and staff were friendly throughout. The room I was in (room 5) was described as a double, but I am glad that I was using it as a single. It was clean, and there was an adequate supply of complimentary tea and coffee. The room itself was cramped, poorly planned and the en-suite shower/WC was the... More

We have been to Islay twice now and both times eaten and drank in the Bowmore Hotel. The Whisky collection is excellent and the batman is always happy to make suggestions for your taste and offer advice. The menu is huge, and the quality of the food is superb, as it is all home made. Dogs are allowed in the... More
