The Bowmore Hotel provides a rare combination of our favourite things. The staff are really friendly, the food is absolutely brilliant and - best of all - it is truly dog friendly - with options to eat in the public bar, outside decking area, or - best of all - garden area that gives your pet sniffing-and-mooching territory while you... Lovely friendly family atmosphere. Rooms are good and the food is fantastic. Ideally located near the shops and distillery. Very welcoming and all the staff talkative and very helpful. Love this place and can't wait to get back. Thanks for the warm hospitality.

We went here for the first time last year and now it will be on are to do list any time we go to Islay. You get a smile and a warm welcome any time of the day, when you come in. The food in the restaurant is first class.

I stayed overnight at the Bowmore whilst working in Islay. Initial impressions of the hotel were very good. The hotel has had some rennovation done which is to a high standard. The check in chap was very friendly and got us to our rooms very quickly. The room itself was one of them that has not been rennovated yet. It... More

Another year and another really good stay. We were here again for the fourth year running at the islay whisky festival. We stayed again at the Bowmore Hotel. As usual Linda, Peter snr and Peter jnr & their staff, do their very best so that you have an enjoyable stay. The scottish breakfast is as good as it gets. Their... More

An old hotel which with a renovated restaurant and entrance. The rooms where very small and poorly sound proofed. We stayed on top of the restaurants and you heard people talking (almost what they said). It could have been a small cozy hotel if one had worked with the details. A few examples - the shower gel was the cheapest... More

Hello, I am sorry you did not feel able to write a good review of the hotel. The rooms on the floor you are on are due to be upgraded in November this year. They will be soundproofed and re organised. The shower gel does not come from a large supermarket, it comes from Brakes who supply most hotels in... More

Visited for dinner only while in Bowmore for one night. (We stayed with Fergus in the An Cuan B&B opposite -which I can recommend as stylish and comfortable). As stated in other reviews, the menu is extensive and the portions large. I would see both these things as good points! We had an excellent meal with friendly service. Make sure... More

Hi, I am glad you enjoyed your meal. You are right, especially at this time of year, booking is essential. You are also right about the accommodation. Our building is 1835 and there are limitations to what you can do. Hope to see you again More

We had a great evening having an early birthday celebration meal during a family holiday, wonderful food and really friendly hotel. We went back for lunch later in the holiday and it was equally good. The scampi, venison and crab salad are particularly recommended. Our dog got a great welcome and loved it as well! Highly recommended if you are... More

A quite bleak exterior belies this hotel's true worth. Friendly reception, excellent room, happy, chatty and ... singing staff in hotel and restaurant. Even the lady cleaning the toilets and collecting the fire wood was singing and humming. Must be a good place to work. Certainly a great place to stay and eat. I rate this hotel the best of... More
