Just got in from a fantastic meal in the restaurant of the Bowmore hotel on Islay and it was truly superb the food the service and the proprietors son Peter a young man with the gift of an easy charm. He even took us on a mini tour of the renovations of the bedrooms and the result certainly puts it in... I was so impressed with this family owned and operated hotel and restaurant, I arranged another return trip just to back up my first impression. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but on our second visit they were installing a sky light outside our window, from early morning until early evening. I liked this place so much I could not... Thank you very much for your review. You will be pleased to know that the work on the executive rooms is now finished and it was worth the disruption. Three other rooms will be done in the coming winter to the same standard as the executive rooms. Hope we will see you again at some time. More

Visited the Bowmore Hotel last weekend with an elderly friend. Last stay was two years ago and since then much work has been done to improve and upgrade the building. The dining room and bar areas are outstanding with a very high quality stone and wood theme and creates a fine atmosphere. Again staff were very helpful and friendly. We... More

Spacious, light filled accommodations with great view of loch and town. Andrew gave great advice on visiting distilleries, bus travel, historic sights on Islay, local restaurants. Breakfast was great way to start the day - a dram of single malt is available, too. Easy walk to center of town with a number of dining choices.

Visited on business for one night. This is very much a pub with rooms. The food was OK in the small restaurant next to the bar. The big problem was the beds, the sheets were very strange and felt like plastic which made for a very uncomfortable night. The bar was very noisy so sleep was not possible until they... More

Having read reviews after I had booked, I was extremely apprehensive but we all really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were small but really clean and the ensuite tiny but adequate. The owners and staff were so friendly and made us so welcome. Unfortunately we didn't eat there as we had booked elsewhere but heard great reports on the food.... More

This is a good place to eat and spend an evening with a large menu, decent quality food and a lively bar, that is sadly however only half the story. The hotel is spoiled by it's rooms which are a let down, they are poorly furnished, in need of a decor make over and the en suites are much too... More

My family and I stayed three nights at the Bowmore Hotel last weekend. I ran the Ardbeg Islay Half Marathon and we toured around the island. The four of us had the family room - Room 7 - with a double and bunk beds. The room was small, but had a great view over the garden and out to Loch... More

We stayed in the hotel for two nights in the "infamous" room 5 :). The hotel is lovely and the staff very friendly. We had two dinners in the restaurant. Both nights we enjoyed the food. The pub is also great. The room is indeed very small. Especially the bathroom. The bed is comfortable. They didn't clean our room after... More
