My husband and I visit Scotland twice a year. This was our first visit to Drymen. The hotel was fine, no complaints BUT the food was awful. I really enjoy the Scottish breakfast but NOT in this hotel. One small frying pan, full of fat, to fry eggs for two coach loads of folk. I decided to take scrambled eggs... more

Attended on the 8th Dec 07 with 17 work colleagues for murder mystery weekend (it was a Christmas night out). Hotel is lovely, rooms are comfortable but RECEPTION staff are unfriendly, unhelpful and actually quite rude. One of my party was allocated a room on arrival and when she went to her room she discovered it was all ready taken... more

My wife and I had the good fortune to stay at the Winnock Hotel , late November, on a "Turkey & Tinsel" break. We found the room very clean and comfortable. The staff in all areas were pleasant and helpful and the food was excellent. The log fires were a nostalgic change and the wood smoke smell was not overpowering.... more

I attended the Murder Mystery night with five friends on 29th Sept. Having read the other reviews, we were expecting it would be like Fawlty Towers. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I requested refurbished rooms and all 3 twin rooms were great - in the new part of the building, a good size, with lovely bathroom and stylish tv. I... more

I stayed here for 1 night on 30th June with a group of friends for my sisters hen night, for the murder mystery night the hotel had offered. First impressions on driving up to the hotel were good. Quaint looking in a lovely location overlooking the village green. However, when I got to the room they had allocated me, before... more

Stayed here for a few days this week. The room was one of the newly refurbished rooms and was excellent with new fittings throughout and a TV in the bathroom. Food was excellent and service was good. Based on other reviews some of the rooms probably need updating so ask for one of the new rooms when you book. Location... more

We stayed here as part of a group, and booked in here as we were at a wedding nearby. Now I have to stay in lots of hotels, as part of work and play, and feel compelled to write my first hotel review as a result of our stay at the Winnock. The experience was truly awful - especially having... more

I stayed at the Winnock with a group of twenty or so for a wedding. It was a mixed bag, at best. Positives: the room (which is one of about 83 consecutive unsympathetic additions to what must once have been a nice building) was spacious and well decorated. Ummm... that's about it for positives. Negatives: the food was poor (even... more
