Great staff trying hard to offer a good service. The hotel looks good from the street. Room comfortable but shabby-not in a chic way. The hotel claims to have 'complimentary wifi", what does that mean? It may be complimentary but it doesn't work. Awful food: Breakfast, tinned oranges and grapefruit, grapes and strawberries and yoghurt, fine if they were always... More

I booked a stay at the royal hotel after seeing it on amazon deals. I didn't check tripadviser first as I would normally do. Once reading these reviews I was very close to cancelling but decided to just go for it. It was a cheap deal but I didn't want to lose what I had paid. I'm glad I did.... More

Just two positives - excellent safety hand rails to aid access and egress to the shower in the bath and a quite a good cooked breakfast, The rest was frankly poor quality. Starting with the room : no handset for the widescreen TV, no reply to call to reception at 9.00pm, large windows that did not open, no pulley cords... More

My husband and myself stayed at the Royal Hotel Bridge of Allan from Monday to Friday last week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The food was of good quality and value and as a gluten free guest the hotel bent over backwards to accommodate my diet so many thanks to them for that. Our room was beautifully modern and very... We stayed over in The Royal Hotel 2/4 October as our son was getting married here. All went well until we checked out and came home. Included in our party was our youngest daughter and her 5 week old premature baby (born at 34 weeks). When we arrived I handed in a freezer bag with 10 bottles of frozen breast... More

I stayed here two years ago, and this time for two nights. On the plus side there have been some improvements. But still an embarrassing old style scottish hotel. Staff were friendly, that's the good news. Eco friendly, as heating only tepid, coffee (dark brown liquid) warm, 'toast' not troubled by being toasted, so little light in room that reading... More

Great desk manager at the Stirling Holiday Inn Express which was full due to the Ryder Cup, forwarded us to this hotel in Bridge of Allan. Given the room price we assumed it was 4 star or at least 3. We were given an attic room up a spiral staircase, no elevator. A curtain rail was in the closet and... More

First if they try to stick you in the Ivy Hotel, refuse. To book at the Royal and be stuck in the Ivy is a bait and switch (or so I thought). The Ivy is a ghost of the past... as in stuck in the 70's with a lounge decked out in tacky vinyl upholstered chairs and all. Rooms are... More

There are 2 sister hotels in Bridge of Allan just a few yards apart - the Royal Hotel and the Royal Ivy Hotel. I stayed recently in The Royal Ivy as I was at a 2 day event being held in the Royal Ivy - so that is where I stayed as it was £85 per night and a 3... More
