Found this hotel by accident whilst looking for a parking space in Biggar - it had an open fire and as it was snowing this was just what was needed. Service was very good and friendly, Food was good my partner liked her nacho's and fajita's although very tasty was just a bit to much sauce for me - I... More

Many thanks for you positive review. The open fire is always a real draw, always warm and inviting when our inclement weather demands it. Cleanliness is absolutely, and we take pride on the vast number of positive comments we receive in this regard. The hotel is a centuries old coaching inn and we try to bear this in mind when... This is our local lounge/pub and go quite regularly. Staff are always polite and friendly. Food of fantastic quality with typical country cuisine (done very well!) but there are always a few more exotic choices to choose from on the menu which is good to see. My fiance and I tend to go for the Thursday Steak Night, but we... More

As a travel writer & author, I have travelled far & wide but I can honestly say that I have never had a more satisfying stay than at the Elphinstone Hotel, Biggar! Having been unceremoniously turned away from another nearby establishment, no doubt on account of my muddy, dishevelled state after 7 hours in the saddle, having traversed 2 mountain... More

We had been walking nearby and booked a night here hoping to walk the next day too. Had been told by booking site that we would get a room with no window, but they had obviously not been booked up, so we had room 6. On the small side, but quite adequate with a bath to soak away the aches... More

Many thanks for your great review. Its great to hear so many positive comments on our friendly staff. We are now working on our untidy garden which was the result of 2 major building projects last year. When finished it will provide a lovely area to sit and have a drink or bite to eat in the (hopefully) summer sunshine. More

Enjoyed a meal and a beer (+ too many whiskies!) with a group of friends. Food was fantastic. Best steak pie I've ever had, and the haggis ball starter I had earlier pinched from my mate was excellent. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Only gripe we had was they don't serve Best! I mean come on! You can get... More

This hotel is a historic hotel and has been owned by Robert and Janette for the last 25 years. You can be sure of a warm welcome, an extensive menu and reasonably priced food. The public bar has been modernised this year and is lovely. Visit during the colder days and enjoy a drink around the open log fire.
