Rigg Cottage is a bit off the beaten track but perfect for touring the area around Ayr. We arrived fairly late at Kate’s on our first night in Scotland and she was very welcoming, and even though her establishment is a B&B, she served us a light tea since we hadn’t had dinner. In our comfortable en suite room we... More

May seems such a long time ago.........but I remember you two sisters very well. I think you will now have seen more of Scotland`s castles than I have. You even came complete with wellies in readiness for the Scottish weather, but I shouldn`t think you would have needed them very often as it`s been another hot, dry and sunny summer... More

When I arrived at Rigg it was a beautiful day and the view was stunning. Kate was very friendly and welcoming and it felt like a home from home straightaway. My room was large and very comfortable, with a very well appointed bathroom, all spotlessly clean. I was able to watch Wimbledon on the large TV screen downstairs, which was... More

What a lovely review - you came to the area in the course of your very interesting work . On arrival you were greeted by my free-range hens, which gave us something in common immediately as you also keep a few poultry, in fact, exactly the same number as I have. You also took a shine to my dog, and... More

Thank you to Kate for providing such a warm and friendly welcome. The cottage is beautifully isolated and has fantastic views. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom had been recently renovated. The best part was the cooked breakfast which was superb! Was only disappointed not to have been able to stay longer.

I`m so pleased you felt both welcome and comfortable - thoughtful guests like yourself and the other coupe who were here at the same time as you really do make this the happiest of occupations. I was sorry I couldn`t accommodate you on the second night, but as you know the room was already booked out. You came for a... More

We are so fortunate to have found Rigg Cottage for our visit to Crosshill, Scotland. Kate was warm and welcoming! Our rooms were spotless, comfortable and spacious with all the necessities. We felt like we were visiting family. The cottage is nestled in the Scottish countryside with spectacular views. We so enjoyed our stay! If we are ever back in... More

I was thinking about you three earlier today and wondering whether you would be home in US by now, so what a coincidence to find your review this evening! You were wonderful guests, so clearly enjoying yourselves discovering all that Scotland has to offer - you really brightened my day/evening/morning with your sheer joy-of-living, and I would have loved to... We stayed at Rigg Cottage for one 1 around mid June. Communication with Kate prior to our stay was very good and our welcome upon arrival was very warm and accompanied by tea and biscuits. Kate is a lovely host and very thoughtful and accommodating, even getting the TV ready for my husband as we rushed back to the cottage... More

I was so pleased that you felt "at home" here - I couldn`t wish for anything more from a review. You appreciated the quiet countryside surrounding my home as much as I do myself , and went off with a sampling of Ayrshire Epicures from my garden, which I know you enjoyed because you took the trouble to email and... It took 2 canny Aussies in their trusty Thrift carhire to track down this genuinely lovely homestay as a 2 night base in the Scottish low lands. We gather it is mainly hardy walkers and fit cyclists who descend on Kate but we felt at home as soon as we arrived and could kick off our shoes and enjoy a... More

Since your review was posted, 2 more Australian families have booked to stay here - demonstrating the influence of Tripadvisor. I really enjoyed meeting you both and hearing about your life and work in Australia - and I`m sure your next stop for the fishing on the Tay would have lived up to your expectations. Really delighted also that you... More

In the area for a family wedding. Nothing was much trouble. Kate was very welcoming. Our room was spacious. Kate greeted us with tea and home made scones on arrival. The full English breakfast was excellent. I particularly liked the free range eggs. If we are passing this way again we we certainly be back. Thanks again, Kate.

This is the quickest-ever review to appear on my Tripadvisor page. You were attending a fairy-tale wedding at a castle overlooking the sea, and left here the next day for a post-wedding Garden Party. You were easy guests, and I know you appreciated the flexibility over your little problem - things do go wrong, especially if you travel with Rip... More

I am writing this on behalf of my German cousin and her husband who said that they enjoyed the lovely rural location and amazing views from Rigg Cottage. They felt very comfortable and well looked after by Kate, who gave them a warm welcome and provided them with an excellent breakfast and dinner. They would be very happy to pay... More

You have been kind enough to place this review on behalf of your relatives, who felt their English would be not good enough! I disagree - I thought they communicated very well indeed.. They were wonderful guests, fitting such a lot into their short time in Ayrshire - they were very interested in the variety of historic attractions in this... More

Fantastic B&B. We arrived very wet and cold from cycling Route 7 and were given a very warm welcome, tea and cake and a chance to warm ourselves in front of the woodburner. "Wet and cold" is rather an understatement! I think you were the wettest and coldest cyclists I`ve ever had - but some lovely fruit cake and tea in front of the fire soon revived you both. I`m delighted you enjoyed your evening meal, and was happy to give you the wine that accompanied it - think of it as your... More

It was a real pleasure to stay at Rigg Cottage, not only because of the very comfortable, spacious room and excellent (full-English) breakfast, but also because Kate is such a warm, welcoming and charming host. We very much enjoyed talking to her, and she put real effort into recommending a good local pub for our evening meal. A nice pot... More

You were wonderful guests! You arrived early, only to to find the house in disarray and me in a dispute with the vacuum cleaner. You were thinking "Fawlty Towers", and so was I, but we had a laugh about it, M fixed the problem and instantly joined my list of "favourite guests". You`d just driven down from a Highland-and-Island adventure,... More
