We really enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Highland Hotel. We have stayed at many Bay Hotels and this was one of the best we have stayed in - the usual oldish building which gives large bedrooms with high ceilings and a very large reception/lounge area, which is nicely divided off into separate areas They have done a lot... Stepping into the hotel, we were met by a very friendly receptionist who gave us directions to our room. The room itself was like something from the 70's, however it was very clean and comfy. The food in the bar was very reasonably priced and delicious! The evening entertainment was certainly aimed at an older audience (the clue was in... More

Lovely hotel in nice surroundings and not far from the lovely village of Strathpeffer. The hotel has been nicely redecorated in keeping with its traditional style. The food is very good, except the first meal which wasn't very hot, but we did arrive at 8.30 after a 10 hour coach journey so it wasn't a problem. The room was large,... More

This is an older hotel that caters mostly to tour groups that are generally up and out by a certain time in the morning, such that breakfast (which is included) is limited and bit rushed but the quality was always good. Would have liked the option of black pudding with my fry up! We had upgraded to a slightly bigger... More

We stayed here for 5 nights with Shearings. Check in was quick and bags delivered to our room within minutes. The room was a good size and very clean. The food was lovely, always a good choice, well cooked and plentiful. Try the porridge,it is lovely. Entertainment was good, and varied. The only downside was, the door smokers use to... More

Any holiday is an adventure and I welcome the unexpected sometimes .The hotel perches on a slope above the village. It was a railway hotel before the First World War, then served as a military hospital. Smart wooden carvings, grand staircase that I climbed to the 3rd floor for exercise! Being a single traveller I shared my dining table with a... More

Lets address the positives. We arrived at short notice and managed to get a twin room for a one night stay. Strathpeffer is a lovely picturesque little village designed in a Victorian style and so is the hotel. So that's a good location. The hotel building and character style is awesome. However it is apparent that Victorians no longer manage... More

It seems a shame that you felt the need to leave a 2 star review. I’m afraid I have to disagree with your comments that the entire décor of the building is in a poor state. We have recently just finished upgrading the public areas and dining room. We are constantly upgrading bedrooms and bathrooms however been a very large... More

My wife and I had looked at this trip a few times but never committed to it until we got a discounted option to go which we did 25/07/15. Its an 8 day one, Usual thing with Shearing, feeder to London gateway then on to our overnight stop the George Washington near Newcastle, stayed there before, always very good !... More

Don't bother with this hotel. Expensive for what it offers. Food is awful... Eat elsewhere. Breakfast 7.0 - 8.45.. So no sleep in. Much better value elsewhere The food at night was bad enough, but then they deafened us with absolute rubbish music... Thankfully after complaints they turned it down. Oh and by the way, the bar was like sitting... More

This is possibly the worst place I've stayed in Scotland. Firstly the whole place stinks, its just awful. The bar staff are incompetent and barely speak English and I caught them trying to rip me off by not putting the right alcohol in my drink. The food is terrible and not served at the same time. Never, ever stay here.
