Great location, fabulous outlook but this is a BED and breakfast and the rather self important owner needs to invest in his business. What is it with some of these BnB owners that they don't want to chuck out Grannies old mattress with the springs popping out...and a double bed ??? More like a swollen single that drove my luscious... more

I first stayed at Rivendell around 15 years ago & have since been back many times & would highly recommend it to anyone for a wonderfully relaxing holiday. The setting is fantastic, right on the shore of the loch & the view across the loch is absolutely stunning. The food is always excellent, served in a plush new dining area... more

We have just returned from two weeks touring Scotland and have discovered one of the most interesting B&Bs in the Highlands. Maybe not five star accomodation but for £28 per person per night and no charge for our eight year old daughter it was without a doubt fantastic value. It has a dream location right on the front of a... more

we had a fantastic long weekend here in shieldaig when we stayed at the rivendell b&b, the owners were incredably helpfull, we even had an open fire!!!!! The food was a little pricey, but well worth it, they even made special meals for our 3 year old. Since then we have moved to the area. We always recommend this b&b... more

In my personal opinion I would say that the host in this Guest House made me feel more than welcome. I thoroughly enjoyed his company and music in the evenings. I was made to feel like a personal guest in his own home and would not think twice about going back there on my next trip up north A very... more

We stayed in an end unit. It had a cozy fireplaced lounge, two bedrooms and bath. The views were wonderful and the location couldn't be better. The breakfasts were delicious and more than adequate. . We enjoyed wonderful three course dinners with very generous portions. The owners were very attentive to all of our needs and provided us with much... more

My wife and I went there because there was not any more accomodations around. They gave us a terrible room, dirty and with a terrible smell. The furnitures were very shabby and greasy, the carpet was brown and really really dirty. The shower was old, and far from being clean and net and there was no curtains at the window.... more

A very poor B&B. The property was very run down although some attempt has been made to decorate the reception rooms. Our room was very scruffy and had no lock on the door and no onsuite. The bathroom was appalling, it was dirty with hair and old soap in the bath. In addition, the hot water system and dirty pipework... more

This was the last room in the last establishment in Shieldag. It was pricey (60 gbp for B&B) considering the room was grubby and in need of refurbishment. No ensuite and the bathroom was grubby with the window blocked off. No lock on the bedroom door. The heating was off and I had to ask the landlady (who was pleasant... more

Having read previous reviews of this place I unfortuntaely cannot say anything positive in its defence. Owners friendly although less so when we told them we didnt want to eat there (£25/head for no choice), bistro and Torridon Inn lovely and so much better. The place is a disgrace and does nothing for Scottish Tourism infact as a Scot it... more
