We have just had a brilliant meal of fish chowder and fresh scallops. Never tasted seafood as good and so generously presented. Fiona our waitress is a real diamond and looked after us, helping us choose wisely. She really understood the food she was serving.

First thing to say is that the service at the hotel is excellent. The owner was very friendly and willing to please. We had as much tea as we could drink and I enjoyed the honesty bar (I was very honest). Breakfast was very nice as well. The decor of the hotel is somewhat anachronistic and there is a pleasing... Room dirty, bed made up in clumsy fashion, no TV or phone in the room, price of Bed and Breakfast per person absolutely outrageous. Very limited number of staff, each doing a whole range of different jobs and working ridiculously long hours. No sign of anyone in overall managerial charge.

What a brilliant place - delectable food in a fantastic location, with a warm welcome. In the restaurant you can ask for excellent real ale from their pub next door (as an option - there's also a wine list). You can gaze out at the sea and the island (where the sea eagles nest) from your room, the dining room,... More

We recently ate in the restaurant, and were the only two diners that night. However, the level of service and the food were superb. It was a credit to the chef that he created our dishes clearly with a dedication that is a credit to him and the Hotel. We had a wonderful meal, and would certainly recommend. Thank you... More

With lovely views across Loch Shieldaig and in the heart of some of Scotland's most spectacular scenery and roads this hotel offers warm hospitality and a wide range of facilities. I lost a button of an item of clothing and put it on the table in my spacious and well appointed room in order not to lose it. After the... More

I know that this review site is for recent visits, but I just had to write a review about this lovely hotel which we stayed in eight years ago with the current owners. We were here for a week in July 2007 with my mother who had just been widowed and our three children aged 14, 12 and 9. The atmosphere... More

A lovely little family hotel which never fails to please. The food is exquisite and the situation great. Lovely friendly service. A shop attached for those little extras. No TV in rooms, which is a 'Welcome Break' for me anyway. One little gripe is that the carpets have seen better days, but really that is of little consequence when walkers... More

My husband and I have just returned from 3 fabulous days in Sheildaig and a stay at the Tigh an Eilean Hotel. Yes, the decor could perhaps do with a refresh in places however this was part of the charm. A warm welcome, beautiful views from the doorstep and some amazing food made for a wonderful visit. Experienced some of... More

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in September. Our room was clean and comfortable, and our hostess was very helpful to us in several ways. We also liked being able to have dinner in the pub next door, where we could get a smaller meal. Shieldag is a delightful town in a scenic area.
