I stayed here in mid October 2015 with my wife and mother in law. I really can't fault the hotel in any way. The rooms are quaint (and authentically British), with great views, the lounge and self service bar are homely and the service is superb. Nothing was too much trouble for these guys - nothing at all. We ate... More

the entrance and the whole of the building smelled of fish, the decor was 'Tired' the stair carpet was thread bear with ragged bits on the flights, if you are taller than 6ft beware of the low ceiling going up, worse coming down as you need to bend forward while carrying bags down. The bedrooms were basic with no soap... More

We arrived on a rainy August evening, driven mad by the midgies! The welcome could not have been better, The hotel was well-appointed, with lovely cosy lounges, and an honesty bar in the library for residents. The food in the upstairs restaurant attached to the hotel was excellent and the service was brilliant. The downstairs bar looked very convivial. The... More

We stayed here for one night on our road trip to Skye. The room was perfect, loved the bath! We had dinner in the hotel that night and oh my goodness, it was lovely! All the staff were absolutely wonderful and very friendly. Would highly recommend. :)

We didn't stay at the hotel itself but we stayed at the free campsite on top of the hill whilst doing the North coast 500 on our motorbikes. We did stumble across the pub hard to miss if you don't walk the entire village. What a little gem very friendly people nice clean place and the restaurant upstairs was very... More

Popped in for some lunch during a tour round the West Coast with my daughter. The weather was vile so it was a welcome haven from the Scottish 'Summer' (which I should be used to by now!). The bar downstairs is cosy and warm and the upper level where the main dining area is very bright and airy and has... More

The hotel is on the very quiet and remote waterfront at Shieldaig, with excellent views. The room was comfortable and there was a nice communal sitting room where newspapers were provided and maps, walking books, etc. could be consulted. Best of all was the fantastic breakfast!

During a brief visit to Shielding we stayed for a night in Tigh an Eilean. The location is superb, the dining experience excellent and the staff couldn't have been nicer - friendly and enthusiastic. However, the quality of the accommodation is poor - threadbare carpets, grubby wallpapers, cracked bathroom tiling and old beds. Completely at odds with the pricing. There... More

The hotel is situated next to Loch Gairloch in another beautiful part of west coast Scotland. The hotel looks nice from the outside. The single bed room I had at the back didn't have a view of such and the decor seemed a bit oldy worldy to me and a bit dullish because of the lack of outdoor light coming... More

Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely breakfast with a magnificent view of the loch. Bed was nice and cosy in a warm room, will definitely recommend this hotel Although the Scottish Highlands are normally quite cold do make sure to take warm clothes with when going to the Highlands.
