Stayed two nights here. Matthew cottage has three bedrooms, a kitchen with fridge-freezer, oven, dishwasher and microwave. Lovely cottage just a few metres behind the Summer Isles Hotel, up on a hill. Liked the views. Peaceful. It's great to be given a huge amount of skimmed milk as requested. Extremely wonderful to have a sauna as well as a spa... More

Our third visit over the past 10 years or so. There’s something special about this place which is more than the sum of its parts – outstanding views, remoteness (oh is it remote!), warmth not only heat-wise but from the staff and very friendly locals, a dash of eccentricity, beautiful dinner, amazing drives to the far north through almost “alien”... My husband and I have just returned from a 3 night stay in this lovely hotel. If you want somewhere to relax and chill out this is the place to come. We stayed in the annexe which was very comfortable. There was no TV in the room which was not a problem for us but I can understand if some... More

Went for Sunday lunch in the bar with my hubbie. Third time we have been here and always assured of excellent food - we were not disappointed! The welcome was warm and we were given the lunch menu and also the sandwich menu. Hubbie had the seafood platter which was tasty and full of great seafood (langoustines, smoked salmon -... More

But I can't give it five stars because it falls short in a number of other areas. The gardens haven't been looked after in months, overgrown and scruffy, which tends to let the whole hotel down. The wines are overpriced...they must be making margins well in excess of 80%. The staff whilst attentive and exceptionally good, are not wine experts,... More

We enjoyed our one night stay to celebrate our anniversary in this delightful hotel very much and will certainly come back again for a special occasion. The views are stunning, the hosts go out of their way to make you feel welcome and the food was superb. The five-course menu with the carefully selected wines to go with each course... More

We found this gem at very short notice through a search engine which enabled a very cost effective stay when all accommodation North of Glasgow was quite booked up. Our room in the too games was very well appointed and faultless. The food was excellent both in quality and content and we cannot rate this property anything less than *****... More

Remote with stunning views. The drive there is amazing. The bedrooms are nice and the bar is good value for food. However the lounge is a bit dated and the piped music in the public rooms off putting! They do have 120 whiskies I believe which can't be bad and the wine list is extensive and sophisticated.

Really enjoyed our three nights at the summer isles in Achiltibuie. We benefited from a heatwave allowing glorious walks and views (and the dreaded midges!). Tremendous service. Our room was fine (no TV etc) with great views (we chose a room with a view), but without the modern feel and comfort of a city hotel. Excellent food with restaurant (set... More

This was our second stay at the hotel. We enjoyed the excellent service and the superb food. Also our split-level room was delightful and very comfortable. We love the quiet location, the lovely walks right from our room, and the superb views everywhere. The breakfasts and the evening set meals were excellent. We did feel that, although the meals were... More
