I really liked this hotel from checking in to checking out. There are a couple of old school practises you need to prepare for – like choosing what you want to eat and placing your order by a set time. WIFI limited so you have to come to the lounge to use it. Please do not let these put you... More

We went on a bit of a road trip and landed in Fort Augustus. So lucky to have happened upon this hotel. We were shown the room before we committed to taking it, reception were lovely and made us feel really welcome. The room was huge (we took the only remaining room which was 2 singles) lovely to have blankets... More

This small family run hotel was a welcoming refuge for a couple of rain soaked days in Fort Augustus. Although we had the smallest room (as we booked late) this was a superb break. The locks were a short walk away, especially if you took the shortcut through the Lovat Hotel. The breakfast should not be missed. Every item on... More

We stayed at Caledonian Hotel over a year ago for a short break, we stayed here as it was central in the Highlands to lots of locations that we wanted to visit. The rooms were immaculate and comfortable, the staff were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble and always greeted everyone with a smile no matter what time of... More

We stayed at the Caledonian Hotel 2 years ago with some friends, we were made incredibly welcome. The rooms were lovely with fantastic views. The breakfasts were wonderful, so tasty. Excellent parking facilities. The bar was well stocked & very cosy. There is a putting green on site. This hotel is close to the village of Fort Augustus, the wonderful... More

The hotel is very close to the canal area and we easily walked there a few times. The hotel has good parking. We had rooms 6 & 7. The rooms were mid-size and extremely clean and modern. One of the nicest bathrooms we had on our trip. The hotel is basic, but very warm and comfortable. We did not eat... More

Stayed here for one night recently and was very impressed. Arrived late afternoon on Saturday. Despite it being August it was cool outside but hotel was warm and cosy. Some hotels will try to save money in the summer by switching off the fires and heating but not here. On checking in we were offered a tea or coffee on... More

The Caledonian Hotel is a hotel with a B&B feel. The host was very friendly and informative. The room was large, it was quite clean and the bed comfortable. The breakfast was good. The hotel is a very short walk to town and the Loch Ness Locks are a must see. There is a ‘Pub’ downstairs and many guests gather... More

This is a lovely, individual old fashioned sort of hotel - no chrome and plastic here. The welcome is warm and genuine and you feel more like house guests than paying customers. French is spoken at the hotel (maybe other languages too) if needed and I would recommend dinner as Johanna is a great cook. Inexpensive at £85 B&B per... More
