The B&B is very nicely located close to loch ness, in fact you can practice any water sports from there. Jenny (the host) was very kind while accomodating us. Very complete breakfast. If i had say any regular comment i´d have to say the house is pretty old, however the beds are new and confortable.

We stayed in the Old Pier House for two nights, and really enjoyed the setting. It is set in large grounds on the shore of Loch Ness, what would you want more? The owner and her grandson were really nice and helpful. It was a bit like staying on a farm, which we really liked. Because of the size of... More

Let me start of by saying that the location of this B&B is absolutely stunning...its right on the Loch Ness.. you can spend hours just sitting on one of the picnic benches on the property...I would recommend this place only for its location. We were a family of 12, which included people of various ages old and young so we... More

The Old Pier House is situated right on the Loch Ness off a quiet private road in Fort Augustus at one tip of the mysterious and captivating loch. The building has been in the family of the landlady for several generations, so it comes with its own history and interesting perspectives on the elusive Nessie. We stayed there for only... More

Seeing the sign for the B&B and looking for a place to stay, I walked down the small road with a few friends. Arriving at an old-looking building, but not seeing any evidence of life about the place, we just walked a bit closer to the water's edge to enjoy the view before going back towards Fort Augustus. You can... More

One of the not romantic bed and breakfast that I have ever seen. It is just on the miterious lake! I remember long and entrerestng chats after dinner, in front of the fireplace, with the host (a very nice and educated lady tha speaks a lot of foreign languages). She knows everything about the elusive Nessy!

Stayed for one night on 26 June with my wife and we had a very nice stay ! We arrived early , but this wasn't a problem , it was a beautiful location, a wonderful and clean place to stay, comfy bed, spectacular view, nothing was too much trouble for breakfast! Don't be put off by overly negative reviews, Jenny... More

I stayed with friends (they booked it) and although the stay was ok, we never relaxed as Jenny was sometimes nice but mostly off hand and rude we were lectured continually on a number of things before we even got to our room…..no chewing gum, no feeding the dogs, no smoking etc etc she went on and on. None of... More

The Old Pier House is in the most perfect location for viewing Loch Ness and trying to spot Nessie. Jenny is very welcoming and knows the surrounding area so well. We had a very enjoyable two night stay staying in Room 4 with great views onto the Loch from our bedroom window. The place was very clean and the breakfast... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Old Pier House, a Highland farmhouse on the shores of Loch Ness, near the pretty village of Fort Augustus. We offer bed and breakfast in the main house open from April to October and self-catering facilities in our Loch Ness Log Cabins which are open all year round. This is a very private location on a peninsula in Loch Ness with stunning loch and mountain views yet only a ten minute walk or a two minute drive from the centre of the village. Located in the heart of the Highlands we are ideally situated as a central base for your Scottish touring holiday. We welcome walkers, cyclists, canoeists, horses and camping groups. There is plenty of parking and storage space. The 125 year old house with magnificent views has been extended to provide comfortable en-suite ground floor bedrooms, sitting rooms with log fires and a large bright breakfast room with superb views. Originally the Old Pier House was the end of the line for the West Highland Railway where big paddle steamers carried timber, cattle and people up the loch to Inverness. The old pier still remains and provides wonderful photo opportunities, a great picnic location and moorings for small boats. We have friendly Highland cattle and ponies that graze naturally on the heather hills, fields and surrounding woodlands. We speak fluent Gaelic, French, German, Italian and Spanish. ... more   less
