As the title suggests this a review of Loch Ness Lodge's Pibroch Bar and Restaurant only. We did not stay at the lodge instead in a self catering cottage locally. The bar and restaurant is homely with large vaulted ceilings, open fire at one end and comfy leather sofas and just the right amount of tartan without being over the... More

A cumbersome enterprise.Warm but also musty.Does seem to capture what accommodation used to be like.Dark, heavy furniture.Very lightly staffed.Needs a thorough refurbish.Service for meals was slow. They did give us a discount indicating that these problems are well known to the staff. Reasonable beer and wine list.Well situated. We had a room at the front.I would eat outside the hotel.Mouldy bathroom. At the restaurant... More

Booked 2 nights at the Loch Ness Lodge hotel during our round trip of Scotland. The rooms are in desperate need of an update, by the look of things not much has been changed since the early eighties. Our room was non-smoking (as are all rooms) but juding by the smell the room has seen it's fair share of smoking... More

Initial impession wasn't good. Receptionist a litle abrupt, room very dated with a random selection of quite bizzare furniture and fittings, notices in the room a little unusual and a bidet installed so close to the wall it was unusable...overall reminded me of Fawlty Towers! And in the 21st cenrury...no wi-fi. But...the room was very clean, the bed comfortable, and... More

You come to this hotel for a genuine Scottish experience. Historical old main building dating back to 1740 with typically Scottish lounge, bar and restaurant complete with fire places had a great atmosphere. Lounges in bar so comfortable could drop off to sleep. Staff, service and restaurant meals were excellent. Rooms a little dated, very clean and beds comfortable. We... More

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. I have read other reviews on here, and I agree with some, but I cannot see what the others have to complain about. Everything was spotlessly clean. The welcome and service in this hotel is the best I have ever encountered. All the staff are friendly, helpful and eager... More

The rooms were 2-star (at best), and the decor was dated, there was a musty smell, and the heating was iffy. The hotel bartender and restaurant are 4-star. David, our bartender arranged a tasting of a flight of whiskeys to polish off an excellent and restorative meal after a long drive over the Highlands/Glencoe area. He also gave us some... More

Stayed here for 3 days. Positives were comfortable beds, a very good restaurant and bar with friendly staff and a nice lounge with a coal fire that made it cosy. Negatives- The room had a portable heater but was still a little cold during the night. Wifi access in the hotel was very limited. Only worked in the restaurant and... More

The reception we received was very pleasant. The room was comfortable and contained all we needed for a good nights sleep. The sash window opened to allow us the fresh air we enjoy. The public rooms were also comfortable places to sit and relax. The location near Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle was special. Dinner was good food attractively served.... More
