2 years ago we stayed in a little cottage called Silver Birch and last month was stayed in a log cabin called Black Grouse. Both were really lovely little houses, everything you need (utensils wise - bring your own food!) in the kitchen cupboards, washing machine, dishwasher ... and lovely comfy beds to sleep in at night. There was even... More

I booked a weeks holiday at Black Grouse Lodge after reading all the blurb on the website. It looked and sounded perfect..........oh dear always, always read the reviews. Firstly the cabin is situated at the top of a really, really steep incline. We have an estate car and whilst, if we made a run for it in the dry, it... More

The property is very large, and was built approximately five years ago and furnished to a high standard. Unfortunately since then there has been little maintenance although good quality sofas have stood the test of time well. TV is old and has no HDMI. Mattresses are tired and uncomfortable. Shower in one en suite leaks and there is a damp... More

We booked Capercaillie Lodge for a week 26/10/13 and paid up front . This is a nice cabin, but in our opinion, so not 5*. it could be if the owner made the effort to maintain and clean it, the lock on the bathroom door was not working, the plug in the hand basin didn't work, the hot water to... Met by friendly owner. Heating was not working but was immediately attended to and fixed.Comfortable bed and everywhere very clean. We spent three nights here cycling. Beautiful countryside and plenty of off road cycling. Negatives..... No hair dryer and patio furniture very tired although patio gets full sun in afternoon, lovely.

We booked one of the cottages for a few nights (without first checking Trip Advisor). Despite the website saying that only a deposit of £100 was required with the balance payable on arrival, the owner insisted on the full amount of £395 to be paid up-front. Reluctantly, we did this in good faith. Due to unfortunate family circumstances, we had... More

We were looking for an accomodation for a night in Inverness, and we called the Inverness Hostel. The owner told us that the Hostel was full but instead he did an offer for one night in a cottage. We thought that was a nice offer and we accepted. When we arrived in Inverness we found out that we rented a... More

Booking made direct a couple of months ago via their website. www.bcclochnesslogcabins.co.uk Stated "Loch Ness Log Cabins offers sumptuous 5 star self catering accommodation". Well having just stayed here it should state 2 * accommodation at a push. Cappercallie Lodge did not live up to our expectation of what we read about from the website (a sister of Bearnock Country...
