Although we visited Durness in August the weather was quite challenging with gale force winds and heavy showers. Tony, Jill and Ellie made us very welcome in their home and we appreciated their offer of returning to the guest lounge during the day to take refuge when necessary. They definitely went the extra mile, providing tea and delicious homemade cakes,... More

As a solo traveller I was a little worried about visiting Durness. I had visions of not being able to travel much, and being stuck in a remote location. However I really wanted to visit Cape Wrath and Durness is the nearest village. I need not have worried. This B&B is slightly outside of Durness village but it is so... More

Stayed for 3 nights, and had a very relaxing time. Great hosts, Good rooms and excellent power shower. Breakfast excellent. Good guest Lounge with TV. Durness is interesting - especially with remains of the old wartime RAF radar station, lots of info, even down to enemy spies landing to try and get information. A visit to Cape Wrath is good... We can’t say enough about Tony and Jill. They are such lovely people, friendly and welcoming. When we asked Tony about walks in the area, he spent quite a bit of time going over a map with us and showing us the various books provided in the guest lounge. The guest lounge and dining area are spacious and comfortable, and... More

Our car broke down a mile outside Durness. Tony not only fetched us, and took us back again to meet the break-down truck two hours later, but got our bikes, bike rack and possessions back to Hillside, AND took us 30 miles to Tongue when the car was ready for collection. What hotel would provide this service? Plus, lovely breakfasts... More
