I have discovered this hotel several years ago on a visit to civilisation and a hot shower when camping wild with a tent or visiting bothies between Sandwood Beach and Cape Wrath and I have been coming back every autumn since. It is basic but the shower has no time limit, the rooms and facilities are meticulously clean, the duvets... More

I arrived at 8.30pm on a Saturday in July, djesperate for somewhere to stay but left an hour later. The whole building stank of smoke, including the cafe, which is not just unpleasant but illegal, environmental health will be contacted. The owners children/grandchildren kept hammering on my door and window even when asked to stop. At first I didn't know... More

The rooms are small and basic, and not ensuite, this is reflected... More

I guess the upside is that it doesn't get booked, so there are vacancies when desperate - as was the case in our situation. The lady running it is very pleasant and helpful, but it is terribly run down and all in all... More

I feel a bit bad writing this review because the old lady running the place certainly does her best. But White Heather is run down and hasn't seen new furniture in 4 decades. Breakfast was OK, though our croissants were way too slushy. No WiFi, no in-room TV. We paid 55 pounds for our 6sqm double. However, this was the... More
