As Dornoch Castle Hotel's online booking facility was 'down', I e-mailed my enquiry via the 'contact' link on their website. Two days later - no reply, so I sent a second request. To date, never received a reply. I was looking for four nights D,B&B in a superior room in mid-November, but clearly, they don't need the business. Each year... more

We arrived at the castle hotel in August and we were blown away by the brilliant staff and atmosphere. We checked in, and once in our bedroom sipped away at the complimentary sherry. We then headed for the warm cosy bar and had some pre dinner drinks. The large fire in here was magnificant. The service throughout our meal was... more

My husband booked this for me as a Christmas Gift 'Experience' through Thanks Darling.com. It was sold as a 2 night stay in a Scottish Castle and a Cruise to watch Dolphins. The cost was approx £450. It was dreadful, the Hotel was substandard although the history seems to indicate that it was at one time a Castle, it is... more

Thanksdarling purchase rooms from Dornoch Castle to sell as a Dolphin Watch trip. The package consists of a 2 night stay in a Standard room and a 2 hour boat trip to see the local dolphins and wildlife. Before the booking was made, the agent was advised that only a twin room was available, and the clients agreed to this...

The best thing about this hotel is the service (very helpful and friendly) and the garden at the back. Unfortunately, the bedrooms, the breakfast room and the food are all disappointing. The rooms are very overpriced for their size and quality. more

We stayed in one of the hotel's basic garden rooms and were impressed by its cleanliness and facilities for the price. We were greeted on arrival by charming staff and a roaring fire which instantly helps one start to relax after a long day on the road. The room, as mentioned was spot on and the food excellent. A good... more

We stayed at the Dorhock castle on a tour of the highlands and went east for the night. There was a roaring fire in the lounge/bar/reception area(probably the smallest reception in any hotle i've ever stayed in!) We booked a standard room but had been upgraded to a superior room free of charge, the room was lovely, but the bathroom... more

This is a very small castle, so those who expect a medieval atmosphere with armours and dungeons will be disappointed. We were not disappointed at all. Our room was a lovely family room with a view of the garden, bathrobes and slippers, and complimentary sherry. The first thing that met us was the castle's own cat, and being cat-lovers, our... more

The only dissapointment was the food on the wednesday evening was not of the same standards as the previous evenings. The food was not presented well and some of the flavours did not... more

Passing through Dornoch we saw the sign for Dornoch Castle and booked ourselves in for the night. We were both really glad that we did as the surroundings were beautiful and the staff extremely friendly. Had a wonderful meal in the restaurant and returned to our very comfortable castle room. No ghost stories to take home, but very glad we... more
