Stayed for 1 night during a short visit to the area. We had a large double room which also had 2 fold down beds for our teenagers. The Hotel is small with large rooms and it is a teaching hotel. It has an interesting history as a family home and also used by officers during the war. The room was... More

Recently as Chairman of the Easter Ross branch of the Federation of Small Business, my committee and I hosted one of our regular meetings at the hotel to support our Sutherland colleagues. The function room we used for our business meeting was ideal. It was a horrible night outside which made the warm and comfortable room all the more appealing.... More

As a group of 6 - 8 golfers which has been visiting Dornoch for nearly forty years we are familiar with The Burghfield in its old form and its new. We stopped going to the "old" when poor became intolerable. Before its transformation into the North Highland College, it made Fawlty Towers seem like the Savoy. The jerry-built annex has... More

This hotel approaches perfection for the price. Our room was big with balcony view over the sea. Biscuits and hot chocolate etc on offer in room. Bath and shower. Staff with great attitude and amazing choice at breakfast. A training hotel with the Uniersity of the Highlands and Islands and so everything is close to perfect. Quick short cut into... More

We have just enjoyed a lovely 2-night stay in the fantastic Burghfield House in Dornoch. Although the hotel is run as "training" hotel for the North Highland College, you would never know from the levels of service on offer. The staff were not only professional and helpful, they were diligent, friendly and personable at all times. We dined in the... More

If any charm there is, it's to be had here. The rooms are spacious and comfortable; breakfast runs the gamut of tastes. The building itself is grand and historic. The staff-in-training are very efficient. Wifi very sporadic on my Apple device here and in the rest of town, had to go to Tain for a good connection. The only drawback... More

We booked this hotel online to break our journey after a holiday in Orkney. The hotel is set in attractive grounds and the house was formerly owned by Lord Rothermere the press baron, but has been updated to a modern hotel. It is part of the University of the Highlands and is used as a training facility for young people joining... More

The Burghfield House is a nice hotel and school for students studying the travel and lodging industry. The rooms are nice sized and clean. Breakfasts are huge and very well prepared with a large selection. Service by the students is attentive and very good. Location in Dornoch is well placed for visiting NE Scotland. The biggest shortfall is that access... More

The room we stayed in was immaculately clean, very spacious and full of period features, decorated in a cosy, warm manner. The breakfast which is served in opulent surroundings was the best we have had due to the highest quality and homemade products, the freshly made potato scones were delicious and the bread was gorgeous. Breakfast actually did fill us... More

We holiday in Dornoch every year but this is the first time we have visited the Burghfield House for a meal. They serve a fabulous Sunday lunch - two courses for £9 95 or three courses for £12 95. The food was absolutely sumptuous in beautiful surroundings. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and the whole experience was wonderful!... More
