Well situated for touring with many amenities from swimming and horse riding to golf. The rooms in the main building are of variable standard and some on the third floor are unacceptable for double/twin occupancy due to their small size and intrusive eaves. It is strongly recommended that on booking in the room allocated should be inspected before accepting it.... more

Took Hubby for Fathers Day and was really impressed. Its a busy hotel, packed full of kids, familys. weddings, etc - and felt full, but we had a great time. The hotel is an old building which has been added to several times. Its in good shape, the grounds are lovely and kept well. Fab play area (with a yucky... more

Stayed at the Hydro for a couple of nights over father's day weekend. Hotel was very busy with families but also two weddings. My first impressions were not at all good. Our booking was correct and the service at the reception was quick and polite however the minute I started walking up the stairs to our rooms the shocking state... more

I booked Corrie Cottage for a family hol with my parents, partner and small children for 5 nights. The Cottage was fantastic, having been recently refurnished, just like a showhome and I can't really fault it. However, we had booked family meals at The Brasserie which were both very disappointing. From first impressions you would think that everything about the... more

Just back from a weekend to this hotel. I called to ask for a room with no stairs to it and near a lift, after leaving a message for this request they called me back to say it had been passed onto reception. When I arrived found that the allocated room was 252 which was yes near the lift but on... more

I have been visiting the Hydro since I was a child and each time I return I expect to have tired of it - but it never happens. We've seen many improvements and additions over the years and on the whole the standards keep improving. We have stayed in the various self catering lodges recently and they are fantastic -... more

I was really looking forward to our break away as our first family holiday, we have an 18month old son. I had heard good reports from colleagues, and thought, great we will have a great time with the wee one. We booked an executive room, the first room we were given was small, dull, furniture would probably have been nice... more

I am certain in its prime time, this was one of the best hotels in central Scotland. But, I have just negotiated £100 off our prepaid (for a reason) £520 bill for dinner, bed and breakfast over the weekend and it still does not seem like good value. I would have paid a lot of money to be flown to... more
