A quick ten-minute drive from the St. Margaret's Bay ferry (all bets are off if you get in at Stromness, it'd be quite a drive) is this fantastic establishment nestled in an old church building in the rolling hills of South Ronaldsay. We came in out of a blustery day and were immediately sat at a feast of boar, venison,... More

first of all, the building itself is magical, a church converted to a b&b/family home, with comfy rooms and a spaceous, well equipped (there's books and cds) lounge, where you can hang out in the evening and let yourself be entertained by one (or more) of patricks hilariously funny stories, get some tips for your next days trip, have a... To eat dinner here is memorabile which is better than any place what we visited in Scotland. The fresh seafood is made with perfection into a great occasion. My wife and I was surprised for this house to be better than the three chimneys restaurant. The house is very modern and very well clean inside. After walking all day they... More

I have always ignored requests to write trip advisor reviews, but my experience at eastward house has changed my mind. This is a masterful combination of discrete organisation attention to detail and genuinely warm natured friendship. I don’t think it can be duplicated because it is driven by quite unique owners. Having stayed in Edinburgh’s best hotel, I have to... More

We felt like we were staying with friends. We have never stayed anywhere with such an emphasis on amazing and varying daily breakfast. Dinner was incredible and is not to be missed. There is no other food in Orkney that even comes close. Patrick and Keiko are excellent hosts, and my wife, daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to... More

Never stayed such a wonderful b&b before. Friendly hosts, fab breakfast, welcoming lounge. Cannot fault. 5*. The only thing I should blame is that the guest house is in Orkney rather than in next town from where we live. Never mind. We will come back.

Beyond a doubt the two best features of this old church converted into a B&B are the gourmet breakfasts and the owners who cook them for you. Let's face it, Scottish breakfasts can be stodgy, and after a few days vacationing, you can hardly face another bite of black pudding. So what you get at Eastward House might make you... More

My husband and I just stayed in Eastward Guest house for one week. We had never visited the Orkneys and had no idea what to expect. What we got was the best B&B experience of our lives. It's not just a place to stay, it's really like visiting a good friend's country house -- if that friend is a gourmet... More

I have never written a review in my entire life but this experience just needs to be shared. From the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out, we had a 'wow' experience as a family: from the personal reception, to the fabulous location, to the entertaining storytelling, to the useful tips to get the most out of... The Eastward Guest House is a unique B&B in the countryside on the Orkney mainland. It located in the countryside in an old stone church which has been updated into a modern guest house. Our driver/guide had booked us in for our four day stay on Orkney. The breakfast was outstanding, and the bed fabulous. Patrick and Keiko went beyond... More
