When you enter the Mill of Eyrland you really do feel that you have stepped back in time. If you are looking for modern accommodation this is not it, but if you enjoy a wonderful old building with heaps of character and an eclectic assortment of furniture then you will love this place. We stayed in the Malting Floor room... More

The Mill of Eyrland is the most glorious building in a beautiful setting. It has been lovingly restored by Morag, who is a wonderful host. Breakfast is immense and served by the lovely Graham and the rooms are beautifully decorated. We stayed for 3 nights and were made to feel very comfortable and welcome throughout. A real home from home.

A lovely historic mill with lots of original features. A warm and friendly place to stay with a great breakfast and peaceful surroundings. We stayed for 3 nights in June with a toddler and really enjoyed it. It is very homely feeling with lots of interesting things to see and read in the house. The communal breakfast table was a... Much more than a B&B - this lovely old restored mill, was a delight in every way - from Morag's lovely welcome to Graham's excellent breakfasts! We stayed in the Hopper Suite at the top of the mill which was spacious and very comfortable, with plenty of room for a family. (Just duck when passing throughout the doorway!) This was... More

A charming converted mill in a peaceful location, great for exploring the western side of Mainland. We stayed in the Mill Burn room which, as well as the four poster bed had a lovely chaise longue and two comfortable chairs. After a busy day sightseeing it was relaxing to laze and read with a cup of tea, listening to the... More

A historically charming B&B wonderfully situated within easy driving distance from Stromness and even Kirkwall. The owner, Morag, was extraordinarily helpful in making sure our arrival was easy and comfortable and gave wonderful advice about interesting places to see and go in Orkney. We stayed in the Mill Burn Room which was large and filled with cozy antique furniture. However,... More

This must be one of the most fascinating, charming and romantic bed and breakfasts in the UK, let alone Orkney. Morag is a wonderful source of information and so friendly. She has done a tremendous amount of work on this old mill and it is just full of wonderful details and 'relics' of a working mill. We stayed in the... More

A lovely little place that is situated in a convenient place for getting to Stromness, Skarra Brae etc. We had a good welcome. The lounge is upstairs full of old mill things and other items. In the mill stream can be seen trout and eels. Being over 6' I did have to be very careful of the light fittings as... More

The attention to detail makes everything about The Mill of Eyrland a pleasure to experience and savour. Make sure you book in advance. The rooms are beautifully appointed, so comfortable even if ours was a little cosy shall we say! No problem, there were lots of other features to enjoy like the beautiful and extensive breakfast on both mornings of... More

We had no idea what to expect from Orkney. The Mill turns out to be ideally situated to get to all parts of the main island. We brought our bicycles and hopped around the many neolithic sites as well as taking the ferry to Hoy in order to see the Martello towers. Morag was our main trip advisor with great... More
