I absolutely loved this Hotel, It was spotless, the rooms were beautiful and had the most amazing views The bed couldnt have been more comfortable, i am not a good sleeper, but i slept every night. The food in the Restaurant was fabulous and the staff were fantastic. As a partially sighted person with a guide dog, i have to... More

The Sands is a bit isolated as it's on Burray island, but well worth the experience. Lovely little place, with a great pub (complete with pool table, dart board, etc.) and good meals. We really enjoyed our stay and wish we had planned more nights there. It's clean, has a friendly desk crew, and comfortable. Highly recommended.

Only had a couple of days here having brought the car across on the ferry from Gills Bay to St. Margarets Hope, a crossing of 60 minutes. The once inhabited islands of Stroma and Swona are passed on the way and it is very interesting to view the clearly visible abandoned properties on both islands. Stroma saw its' last inhabitants... Booked a 2 night break to explore Orkney, 2 Adults, 2 Children. We decided to go for the Family Suite, absolutely perfect room which is more like a small self catering home within the Hotel. We were pleasantly surprised by the outstanding suite which comprised of an open plan lounge and dining area, adjoining kitchen, bathroom complete with a great... More

I, my wife and two friends had dinner at the Sands Hotel on 16th June 2014. We knew nothing about this hotel before we booked a table but the experience was excellent. The staff had the balance between providing all the information we needed and a relaxed friendliness just right. There are not a huge number of places to eat... More

Out standing location, room, food. Nothing bad to say at all. Food beautiful and reasonable priced, room beautifully decorated, whilst not huge room ideal for us and comfy bed. Great people , I wonder if they know how lucky they are to live in such a place,my hearts still there.

We stayed here for one night, having turned up on spec. Very pleasantly surprised by the reasonable price for a beautiful, comfortable room with great views across the water. The shower was great and the bed was comfy. We had dinner here and it was gorgeous - the lamb was divine. We had a few drinks in the bar afterwards.... More

Driving into Burray and to the hotel itself I was a little concerned. What a surprise when I entered the room! I had booked us into a suite -Scapa - and how nice it was was. The outside of this building does not do justice to inside the modern and updated rooms. We entered and out of the lounge window... More

This is not a motel at all and once you get past the uninspiring exterior, you will find a surprisingly comfortable newly refurbished hotel. We stayed for a week in a suite - two bedrooms upstairs, spacious lounge with kitchen and bathroom downstairs - all spotless, everything you could need, loads of room and great views of the bay. Appreciated... More

Two nights at the Sands Motel was not long enough. Perfect location, wonderful room, great food what more can one ask for. Probably two of the most amazing days out of twenty one that we spent in the U.K. My husband and I weren't sure if we would have time to travel so far north but we really were determined... More
