We had to find accommodation on the Island of Arran at short notice after our previously booked accommodation (Seaburn Cottage, Lamlash) turned out to be dreadful. We spent one night in it and that was one night too much. As we were only spending a further three nights on the island, we didn’t want to take too long looking for... More

We spent 3 comfortable nights at Apple Lodge and we particularly enjoyed watching the deer from our bedroom window. The location of Apple Lodge is ideally situated for a variety of walks to suit all abilities and John was quite knowledgeable about these walks. Overall the standard was excellent, although the promised biscuits, homemade or otherwise, on the hot drinks... More

There were free rooms, but when I said we just want to stay for a single night they did not want us anymore. I could understand this in the morning, but not at 8pm when we asked. So they obviously prefer empty beds over easy earned money. We had a wonderful night at the youth hostel instead.

We spent three idyllic nights at this lovely B&B in Lochranza at the north end of Arran Island. The victorian period home -- once a manse -- was lovingly furnished and our room, with two windows overlooking the valley and village, was immaculate. Breakfast was excellent. Come dinnertime, you can dine at the lodge by prior reservation (bring your own... More

On our first trip (of many to come!) to Arran, my friend and I booked a night at Apple Lodge and it was absolutely brilliant. No detail was overlooked. The hospitality was excellent. The room was clean, neat and had anything a traveler could need provided: coffee/tea service, lovely clean bathroom, iron, luggage rack, and binder of information about the... More

Lovely B&B, great location not far from the 'centre' of Lochranza, and close to the Arran distillery. Our room was spotless and comfortable and the owners were very welcoming. The decor has lots of frills and ornaments and, while part of the charm, it won't be to everyone's taste. That certianly shouldn't put you off though. Lochranza itself is very... More

We were lucky enough to spend a week at Apple Lodge in May. Before going we had thought about possibly going self-catering but rather fancied being looked after. Apple Lodge turned out to be the perfect combination. We stayed in the charming and comfortably furnished Apple Cottage, a self contained annexe to the main B & B with delightful views... More

This guest house is a real "home from home" and our accommodation was so beautifully furnished, relaxing , refreshing and comfortable. The breakfasts which were provided will long live in our memories, a delicious variety and cooked to perfection! They made a delightful start to each day. We were also most grateful for information about the Stag's Pavilion restaurant nearby... More

We're just back from a long weekend on Arran using only recommendations from Trip Advisor. Apple Lodge was a perfect bolt-hole for tourists looking for some peaceful respite at the end of the day. Our family used a double room and the suite and found them serenely relaxing after busy days out. Our hosts were very welcoming, and the breakfasts... More

My friend and I stayed at the Apple Lodge in August 2012. Before confirming our booking, we checked with the owners to confirm that the Lodge is definitely smoke-free. As my friend has asthma, she was particularly concerned at the Tripadvisor reviews which referred to there being a smoky smell in the Lodge. We are so glad that we didn't... More
