We have just returned from a 3 day break in Arran. As we had got a deal our expectations weren't great. We were shown to our room which was huge and looked onto the beach etc. This must surely have one of the best locations on the island. The staff were great and the food superb. The hotel is dog... My daughter held her wedding here recently and it was a fantastic setting with great food and perfect weather. It was just as she planned and hoped would work out well. Please just get the service issues fixed and you will have it all! I hope you can improve and get 5 stars. Many guests had never visited Arran even... More

Room clean spacious and comfortable. Staff are great want to please. Food is fantastic. Scenery is spectacular, best on the island. (Ask for sea view) only reason didn't Get 5 star is had to run around in shower to get wet. If your going to the island give this hotel a chance.

Got a deal so were pleased and the location is great. Not too impressed by the either/or breakfast selection, have travelled extensively and this was the first time I had experienced this. The room we were in would not be classed as a suite and we had constant problems with the heating and bathroom radiator not working. The final time... More

My wife and I booked again for 3 nights with a groupon deal, The dates we wanted there were no double rooms available so we were offered the chance to upgrade to a suite for a nominal price which we did and were so pleased we did as the larger room was excellent for what we liked with seated area... The bedroom was fairly newly decorated, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. i loved the long deep bath which was very welcome after a long day walking. The restaurant menu for dinner was quite limited but the food was good. The breakfast set up was disappointing. The menu gave options for continental OR cereals OR full cooked breakfast but we were... More

Driving the last half mile down from the top of the hill to Kildonan Hotel gives breathtaking views over the surrounding countryside, the sea and the very picturesque island with lighthouse just off shore. Our family room was very well appointed with modern decor, nice bathroom and fantastic views. The flatscreen TV was the largest I have seen in a... More

I was staying here on a voucher offer as part of a tour of Scotland having never been to Arran before. I was pleasantly surprised with both the location and a lot of things about the hotel. It has the potential to be a great island hotel with fantastic views from most bedrooms and the restaurant which has floor to... More

What a pleasure to stay in a well run family hotel where the staff couldn't do enough to help ! I travelled with my disabled husband and found the room ideal for his needs and could fit his hoist under the bed unlike most other hotels with divan type beds. The wet room shower room was big enough for hoisting... More

The hotel is situated very close to the beach with great views. Our room was very spacious and well appointed although the outside furniture needed painting. We enjoyed the big breakfast and the evening meals provided good pub food. There was music in the afternoon which we were encouraged to join in and the locals were very friendly. We booked... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Unwind and forget your troubles at our small, family run hotel. Built in the 17th Century, it is one of the 7th oldest licensed Inns in Scotland and historically a destination that families have aspired to visit for well over 100 years. Perched on the southern-most tip of Arran with panoramic views to die for, the hotel is located right on the seafront, the beach literally stone's throw away. Overlooking the Firth of Clyde we are right in the middle of a unique eco-system with a plethora of wildlife. We have seals basking daily on the rock jetties off-shore, otters feeding and playing on the rocks and gannets diving non-stop through the day. We are also fortunate to have occasional basking sharks and dolphins visiting in the summer months and an array of birds-of-prey including eagles, peregrines, buzzards and more... Pladda Island sits directly across the sound with its recognisable lighthouse and ever changing silhouette playing host to a large colony of seagulls and gannets. And of course the famous Ailsa Craig, 'Paddy's Milestone', a bird sanctuary now but is renowned for its granite which is still used for curling stones today. The interior is fully refurbished, still maintaining some the quaint characteristics of old, while the tasteful addition of extended bistro and lounge area with floor to ceiling windows allow residents and diners to gaze for miles over a cup of tea, breakfast or an evening meal. ... more   less
