I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years and it is what it is. If you want kingsize beds with power showers, spa, etc then book the appropriate place and pay the price for it. If you are looking for a budget holiday on the Isle of Arran that is close to the harbour, warm and cosy... More

This is the worst hotel in the world the whole place is rundown and indeed needs knocking down and either starting again or being replaced by private seaside flats. Only redeeming factor was the excellent sea view but you can get that by sitting on the beach, which I recommend rather than staying here. They tried to charge me £82... More

Stopped for a well deserved pint before heading home on the ferry. This place is majorly run down and in need of modernisation, even the glasses we drank from needed a deep clean! The only good point about this place is the closeness of the ferry terminal. Won't be back.

If you are looking for luxury in modern surroundings then you definitely wont find it at the McLaren Hotel! Thankfully when I stayed here with a group of friends we were just looking for somewhere to stay the night while playing a few rounds of golf on the island. The hotel has an excellent location on the sea front and... More

On a recent visit to Arran we were looking for somewhere to have a light lunch after 2pm but before 5pm. McLaren's hotel have a board outside their premises advertising bar meals all day but when we went into the really loud bar, we were told that they had stopped serving and wouldn't be serving again until 5pm.

I think there must be 2 Maclaren hotels on Arran as I don't recognise the one in the reviews that say it is great as I can safely say it is the very worst hotel I have ever stayed in.Reception dreary, room depressing had to ask for clean pillow slips and coffee mug.Breakfast was a disaster the poor lad who... We stayed in the McLaren hotel in June with a group of 18 girls for my hen weekend. My sister had booked the whole thing so I didn't know where we were staying. As soon as we arrived we were met at the door by the owner who gave us such a warm welcome. She checked all 18 of us... More

Just had a lovely weekend here, Management and staff bent over backwards to help guests. Stayed in room 2, absolutely beautiful. Definitely going back soon. Was here with a group of 30+ adults for an organised weekend, everyone was full of praise for the hotel staff. Hotel is basic but lovely. Food is delicious and staff provided the best of... More
