Stayed here for just one night during family touring holiday of the West Coast of Scotland. Perfectly situated near the Isle ferry terminal. Warm friendly welcome when we checked in. We had one of the front rooms which had fabulous views both from the spacious bedroom and superb en suite bathroom. Everything provided for a luxury overnight stay. The food... More

As soon as the ferry arrives at Arran harbour you can see the Douglas hotel on your right. So you can check in, drop off your bags and start enjoying this lovely island. This hotel is well appointed and the rooms are very comfortable. The bistro is a fine room serving breakfast and dinner which was part of our package.... More

I have been going to Arran for about forty years and in the time I have seen this hotel go from the best on the island to an empty shell. It's good to see it back with a bang. The refurbishment has been fantastic and even though I only used the bar it's a class establishment with great staff. We... More

I visited here with my partner but we were part of a larger group, including a child. I can honestly say my stay was trouble-free and my partner who can normally find anything to moan about didn't have a single bad word to say. It was honestly great. You may be put off by the fact it doesn't have a... More

The exterior can look a bit grim and baronial when you get off the ferry on a wet day but inside all is modern and welcoming. None of your tartan suff here and no stuffed animals hanging on the walls. The rooms are good sized and nicely equipped. And the young staff, mainly college kids when we stayed, were friendly... My brother and I spent a couple of nights here last week on a short break. Everything about the place was first-rate - staff, accommodation, location - even the food, which can be unusual in otherwise good hotels. Also managed all this in a completely relaxed and unstuffy atmosphere - eg in one of the lounges there is an interesting... More

This is my second time staying at the Douglas and we really enjoyed our stay yet again. The room was lovely, really like the Harris tweed decor, and the bathroom is fab. The breakfast is nice and uses good Scottish ingredients which is a bonus. Staff very pleasant and friendly. The only small downside to our stay was the bar-... More

We visited the bistro in The Douglasl earlier this week. We phoned ahead to ask if vegan food could be provided and this was confirmed. On arrival the waitress advised us that the chef had planned a starter and main course for us and checked if the ideas were acceptable which they were. The food was absolutely delicious - moderate... A 40th birthday treat for my wife, she is also going to New York but Arran was a stop gap until then. Not to be disappointed, a fantastic relaxing few days. Hotel is stunning, close to the ferry terminal and you do get a little noise off the ferry. Second floor room is a little too hot though. Really recommend... More

I stayed here with my wife and 5 year old daughter for 2 nights, and we stayed in the suite which overlooks the bay. The hotel is very well presented, the room was huge with plenty of space for our daughter's double sofa bed and with every position in the room having a great view. The bathroom was also huge....
