Although the rooms could only be described as basic, the location, staff, and food were all excellent. Our group of 8 have a reputation for expecting the impossible and demanding more , but the ambiance and in particular the food was of the highest order, and impressed us all. Highly unusual to get this quality of food in a Scottish country house hotel. Great for a meal out if holidaying or golfing in East Lothian and if I lived locally I would never be out of the place. more

The welcome and service we received from the staff was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them. The bathrooms could do with some attention but Malcolm, the owner, is fully aware and he will get round to them! Excellent staff. Malcolm the proprietor was a fine ' mine host' and we enjoyed his company at the bar. Rooms were excellent and the location for golfers is fantastic. Food in the bar was also very good. Hope to visit again in September. thanks David Shearer more

having eaten at Ducks in Edinburgh city centre and been blown away by the high standards was VERY much looking forward to eating and staying at Ducks in Aberlady for a birthday treat. Got a £40 BB rate after booking table for dinner and was glad we only paid that. On arrival the shabby and dated decor is instantly obvious.... more

Very comfortable, excellent meals, friendly efficient service. Aberlady is ideally placed for Edinburgh with a fast train service from Longniddry Station a couple of miles down the road. If you're looking for a relaxing stay near Edinburgh without the traffic chaos that place has, I'd say it was ideal. more
