Had not read the reviews before staying so was curious what others felt. Certainly did not experience the things mentioned in some of the more extreme negative comments but do see the issues with the tired decor and lack of attention to detail in places eg no tv signal on most channels in bedroom. However the breakfast experience was good ,... Booked room in Beechfield B/B 8 wks before going. We were going to a wedding near by.When we arrived we had to pay up front for our accommodation.lots and lots of stairs to the room. Have never saw anything like it since the 1970s.It was dirty dim just an excuse for a room. There was a hole in the floor covered... More

Stayed here for two nights as had a course nearby. The course started at 8am every day. Firstly they take card details prior to booking, took my card payment for the two nights (2x£40) and then told me that breakfasts start at 8am. I asked the Polish lady (who seems to run the place with Trevor) if there was any... More

This was not a pleasant experience. The peeling paint on the windows (inside and out) should have been a warning. Inside, the place was grubby, there was a hole in the ceiling, lack of mirrors in the room, no real comfort, bed lumpyt and uncomfortable (though linen was clean), floor and carpet were dirty, towel rail almost out of its... Comfortable, clean room, basic but has ever thing you need. Trevor was very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for him. Breakfast excellent, I would give as higher rating but guesthouse could do with a bit if updating but it would definitely not stop me staying there again, good value for money B+B with fantastic breakfast.

At first glance the room seems great until u take a closer look; dirty carpets, dirty bed clothes, pillows with no cover on it, previous guests socks hidden under the table, lack of toilet roll, the list could literally go on. Breakfast wasnt much better either! The milk for the pittiful range of cereal was off, simply asked what wud... More

DIRTY, DAMP AND HORRIBLE!!! I had booked to stay here whilst attend a wedding at a nearby hotel. On arrival we booked in at the Beechfield and were shown to our room the Ashfield building, immediately on entering Ashfield it smelt like it had not been lived in for years. It was extremely dirty and stank of damp. On entering... More

The staff were friendly and helpful, but the condition of the rooms left a lot to be desired. We were only there for one night. Any longer and it might have been a problem. Our double bed was tiny. The wardrobe had no hanging rail. The windows were covered in condensation in the morning. The only toiletries supplied was a... More

We stayed for 3 nights in August and the second I arrived, I couldn't wait to leave. The car park is uncared for and drab looking, the receptacle for cigarette butts outside the entrance was overflowing, the reception area was dated, there was a smell of cigarette smoke at reception and you could see straight into a room that looked... Stayed here while at a wedding nearby wedding, checked in ok and room was clean and comfortable though furniture was a bit worn and dated. Overall, the general decor of the guest house seemed a few years out of date. Breakfast though, was very good with a good range of fruits and cereals as well as a delicious Ulster Fry,... More
