Me and my friend went for lunch- we had the steak sandwich and cod and chips. Really nice, fresh food well made - delicious. Service was great, really friendly and prices reasonable. And to round it off proprietor Dave Boy McAuley the world champion boxer was kind enough to pose for photos and sign a couple of items for us... More

a few days break away. we used this hotel as our base for visiting Glenariff forest park, Larne and coastal tour of seaside villages. The hotel is just outside the village of Ballygally. a little dated in décor, but the food is lovely, the bar and restaurant have a lovely cosy atmosphere, the bedroom was dated bathroom small, but cosy... Made to feel very welcome in this very homely hotel, the scenery outside of the door is beautiful and the fact that so many people come here in the evening is testimony to the hotels reputation. The surroundings it does have to be said are a little dated but very comfortable, that said the sound proofing could do with updating... More

We often call into The Halfway House when touring the Glens of Antrim. It serves up wholesome food from quite an extensive menu at a very reasonable price. The staff are so friendly and the atmosphere delightful. Oh! and the chips are great.

Sunday lunch with the family staff are welcoming and attentive nothing is to much trouble. Surroundings a little dated but comfortable. The food is good but not great you couldn't say it was bad but lacks that certain edge that you would be in a rush back. I honestly don't want to put any one off eating at the halfway... More

Passing on this coastal route decided to stay for a night. Lovely setting outside larne with great views. Time has stood still at this hotel but in a good way , it's like stepping back in time & we loved it. Rooms are very small but bar menu was extensive & very homely. Breakfast was very nice but 9am is... More

Our Bluegrass music group was playing at a Saturday evening concert in the Halfway House - a superb evening in the ideal venue. After the sound-check in the large function room, we had a "Halfway Burger and fries" from the extensive menu - an excellent "home-made from real steak" burger - in the busy, cosy, relaxed restaurant/bar. Polite friendly, efficient service.... More

We stayed for 4 nights and found the staff some of the friendliest that we have encountered in our travels. The evening meals were a lot more varied than the usual 'pub grub' and we found no problem in finding something eatable on it. The breakfasts were good as they were of a buffet style, so you could help yourself... More
