The service at The Priory was impressive. Staff were very flexible catering to our requests for informal dining outside normal hours and asking what more could be done to help rather than waiting to be asked. The drawing room and the bar were both very charming and the buildings undoubtedly had rare character. Unfortunately all this came at a very... More

The Priory is an excellent choice for a serene riverside location with excellent food and service. We recently stayed for my wife's birthday and on arrival found we had been upgraded at no extra cost. The room was big with a king size bed. On one of our two nights we were the only couple staying in the hotel and... More

We were looking for a well earned break and a touch of luxury. We came upon the Priory by doing a web search. It certainly hit the spot. We took advantage of their offer for a winter break with half board. The room we were given was an upgrade and was very comfortable. The 3 course dinner was excellent and... More

We found The Priory ticked all our boxes for a tranquil, romantic, special occasion getaway. Food exquisite, staff were so friendly and attentative, nothing was too much trouble. Though definitely oldy wordly, wooden beams, wine cellar restaurant etc., the room we had was modern and tastefully decorated to a very high standard and the bathroom wow. Though there was a... Living in Dorset, we try to get to the Priory a few times each year, usually just for dining and occasionally (when we're feeling decadent) to stay! To cheer ourselves up throughout January, we booked for lunch yesterday, and, as ever, couldn't fault it. We were pleased to see there was a set January menu (as well as a la... More

This was our second visit to the Priory and we weren't disappointed. We booked a two night break as a mini honeymoon after our wedding. We were upgraded to a suite which was amazing with a lovely newly refurbished bathroom and a bath made for two. Luxury toiletries, basket of fruit, complimentary newspapers, you get what you pay for here.... More

My 2 night stay here was not paid for by me. I saw the prices and do think it is very overpriced for what you get. I also found the black tie waiter bit totally over the top and somewhat out of place for the type of establishment. I had a steak and it was superb. Some reviewers have commented... More

We booked this hotel as a group for a 60th birthday weekend. On arrival we were greeted warmly and made to feel that nothing was too much trouble. The log fire created a cosy atmosphere and the bedrooms, though small, continued that ambience. The Priory is an exceptional old building full of character and history. The gardens, which run down to... More

A charming place, steeped in history. Corridors and small public rooms. Log fire in a comfortable lounge, small bar and other lounges. Wonderful atmosphere throughout. Dining room was bijou, clean and pleasant. The meal superb. (Winter special price lunch or a la carte) Not cheap but good value. Excellent, efficient staff. Will certainly visit again.

Family lunch for 6. On arrival downstairs was full so we were given the upstairs room. Almost like entertaining at home. Comfortable, well appointed. Staff were attentive but not pushy. All went seamlessly. Service at lunch was responsive, no long delays. Food was thoughtfully presented, the chef had a good eye to detail. Amounts were moderately generous. Sweets offered were...
