Large room, some family rooms even have the rooms separated for privacy. Lovely big bathrooms, Simple but effective use of furniture & décor. A million miles away from a standard hotel. The breakfast was of excellent quality & loads of it. The usual buffet with cereals, juice etc. & a good choice of cooked breakfast including a massive full English... More

11 friends travelled down from Norfolk for a few days birdwatching in Dorset. It proved difficult to find a hotel where we could all be "billeted " together until we found The Red Lion. This little family run hotel is superb. A warm welcome from the manager as she attempted to find us all a parking spot. Being in the... More

We were in Wareham for a wedding and needed a bed for the night. We arrived very early and, inspite of being far in advance of the official check in time, our room was ready and we were allowed to check in. We went through the formalities and were given a card with an emergency contact number should we need... More

We're very glad that you liked your room. Some of our rooms do have double beds in order to keep the room as spacious as possible. We will always do our best to meet guest requests, so just let us know if you would prefer a larger bed in the future and we will do our best to honour the... More

As a group of walkers/golfers looking for a comfortable night to stay in Wareham, the Red Lion hit just the right spot. Wonderful staff who were friendly and so helpful, they were just delightful. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable and even though out of the 4 rooms only one had a shower that didn't bother us as a... More

We stayed two nights at The Red Lion. The bed, room & shower were comfortable. The staff were very helpful & friendly. The breakfast was big & tasty. We did not have an evening meal. The pub/hotel was a good location to take various walks around Wareham & the local area. The only downside was the town hall clock located... More

We had a lovely weekend in Wareham staying in the Red Lion right in the centre of the lovely small Dorset river side town. The rooms are newly decorated to a high level and spotless, the pub is also very well maintained with good real ales and wine. The huge breakfasts are magnificent with fresh Dorset sausages, bacon, eggs and... More

I visited the Red Lion with a few friends on Sunday and after a long hike we couldn't wait to have a nice meal. The staff were inattentive and impolite. Two meals came out very quickly, (however the steak was burnt to a crisp, certainly not medium rare). The meals were finished before anyone else had been served. Finally all... More

We are quite happy to accept fault and criticism when it is fair, however a lot of this review is untrue or the whole story has not been told! When the first person came up to order I explained that if the orders go through separately the food would come out staggered, to which the response was "that's ok, we're... More

The staff and management at the Red Lion make you feel very welcome and comfortable. Breakfast was good as was our evening meal. We reserved a ground floor room for my mother who has mobility problems but this was only accessible to her via a side door around the corner of the hotel in the main street which was not... More

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We do normally inform guests who request a ground floor room that access to these rooms is still via a few steps but we will ensure that staff remember to re-iterate this upon booking. During the summer months our side gates are open a lot more regularly or you can... More
