We were a large party and enjoyed an excellent lunch in beautiful surroundings. The food was first rate and the service was helpful and friendly. Altogether, a very enjoyable experience and I would recommend it for a special occasion

Three nights last week and two dinners. Not worth anything like the £230 a night charged for Room and Breakfast. Room musty and cold (In Courtyard). Breakfast poor with impossible to eat bacon that had seemingly been kept warm and had hardened to the consistency of leather. Dinner below average and nothing like their claims on their website. Food served by... More

I only stayed one night but wish it had been a week. A beautiful setting, friendly efficient and helpful staff and a large well appointed room. Dinner was magnificent. Lobster to start,Chateaubriand main course and a desert trolley that made me wish I had saved more room to enjoy. Sunday lunch the next day was nearly as wonderful. I cannot wait... More

Three years since my last return to Plumber Manor where we have many happy memories - especially my mother's 100th Birthday party! On a brief visit I wanted to stay here once again and so came just for one night to find PM delightfully unchanged! I was given a room in the Courtyard a short stroll from the Main House... More

Went here with friends on a Saturday night for somewhere different. Lovely place outside, very welcoming. Greeted by friendly staff & given olives & nibbles before being shown to table. Only problem we had no cocktail sticks for olives or napkins to wipe fingers on. Not a huge problem but sticky fingers! Decor is quite dated & could do with... More

My husband and I stayed at Plumber Manor for two nights in July. The host and hostess were warm and welcoming. We dined in the restaurant on the first night and found the food delicious. The manor house and gardens are lovely. The décor of the rooms may be slightly tired (avocado bathroom suite!), but we found this just added... More

We were privileged to discover Plumber Manor 33 years ago. We have been returning intermittently ever since , most recently last week. The only change is Richard's hair which is now a distinguished silver which possibly suits him better than his dark tones. Sadly his chocolate labs finally passed away a fortnight ago. Our memories of our first visit are... More

This wonderful hotel provides the highest standards in the hotel with its sumptuous gardens, with superb cooking to match. Throughout there was a professionalism provided by everybody not least the host. What a delight not to be herded by the gimmickry and pretentiousness of some of the more recent hotels - those who have stuck to high quality standards continue... More

You can go to a wonderful pretentious place elsewhere but for a genuine reception, generous hosting, characters and great English country food, they don't come much better. Plumber Manor is one of my all-time favourites - I just hope it goes on and on. PS if you ask nicely, they give you a bit extra for pudding! PPS they stock... More

This is an excellent place to go for a really substantial treat, whether it's a birthday (which it happened to be on this occasion) or not. The welcome was genuine and charming, the details sent beforehand had been well-remembered, and the proprietor Richard Prideaux-Brune and his team obviously enjoy the work they do in pleasing guests and providing luxurious and...
