We were privileged to discover Plumber Manor 33 years ago. We have been returning intermittently ever since , most recently last week. The only change is Richard's hair which is now a distinguished silver which possibly suits him better than his dark tones. Sadly his chocolate labs finally passed away a fortnight ago. Our memories of our first visit are... More

This wonderful hotel provides the highest standards in the hotel with its sumptuous gardens, with superb cooking to match. Throughout there was a professionalism provided by everybody not least the host. What a delight not to be herded by the gimmickry and pretentiousness of some of the more recent hotels - those who have stuck to high quality standards continue... More

You can go to a wonderful pretentious place elsewhere but for a genuine reception, generous hosting, characters and great English country food, they don't come much better. Plumber Manor is one of my all-time favourites - I just hope it goes on and on. PS if you ask nicely, they give you a bit extra for pudding! PPS they stock... More

This is an excellent place to go for a really substantial treat, whether it's a birthday (which it happened to be on this occasion) or not. The welcome was genuine and charming, the details sent beforehand had been well-remembered, and the proprietor Richard Prideaux-Brune and his team obviously enjoy the work they do in pleasing guests and providing luxurious and... Very good dinner and overnight stay in relaxing and idyllic country setting. Lawns, Flower beds and overall garden setting was delightful and enhanced our morning stroll around the large grounds before departing.

My parents booked their family in to Plumber Manor the night before their golden wedding anniversary lunch, being held at Plumber Manor. We had a fantastic dinner ... really well executed courses oozing with taste. The wine was exceptional … Côtes du Rhône, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc … someone has a very good nose! We all had lovely bedrooms... More

Stayed at Plumber Manor for two lovely days with friends. We stayed in the converted barn with a beautiful view of the lake and tulips in bloom. The room was spacious but needs an update. The window seats were very cozy. New drapes and slipcovers would make it absolutely charming. The meals were outstanding and the proprietor very entertaining. I... More

The Plumber Manor in deepest Dorset is a little gem set in rural Dorset. Throughout the stay the staff made the journey worthwhile & comfortable. The bar is well stocked, the hotel owner adds a sense of humour to the evening events after dinner. The hotel gardens & surrounding countryside is idyllic. Recommended... Absolutely. Thanks Gordon x 😉

So I have heard great things about this hotel. Impressing my mum every year is getting harder and harder and this year I succeeded. From start to finish this was a joyful evening. We turned up early as I had set off in good time to find it and we were rapidly settled in front of the fire. Lovely people,... More

Had a very nice evening meal here. The setting looks lovely, though shame we arrived in the dark on a wintery evening. Nice entrance hall and a very attractive building. Rather 'dated' lounge with a bar which was really not in keeping. The roaring log fire was not roaring, pitty. Service was attentive. The menu is good and varied, though... More
