We went to Banks today for Lunch before we had a walk. We spoke to the bar staff. Because my wife has Coeliac disease. ( Gluten Free ) The bar staff were not interested they just gave her a folder with no explanation. I said do you have a lunch menu they just pointed to the wall with not even... More

The Bankes Arms has been a favourite spot of ours for years. Friday 19th July my partner and I cycled over from Bournemouth. We fancied fish&chips and a soda&lime. They had no fish&chips and no lime??? On a Friday afternoon?!?! Instead I had the over priced seabass. Not impressed and won't be hurrying back this summer. The Bankes Arms has... More

We used to enjoy this pub/restaurant but I'm afraid it seems to get worse and worse. On our latest visit the staff were more interested in chatting amongst themselves than serving drinks or food. There was no pleasant welcome, they seemed to have had little or no training in serving drinks - being unable to pour a Guinness correctly, they... More

If you tossed a coin and it meant missing eating here you wouldn't be disappointed. If the coin toss meant you had to eat here you might be disappointed because it's a hit or miss eating place. Out of 4 meals 2 were fine the other 2 not so. The quality seems to be lacking, the service is fine and... More

Pub is in a great location, I opted for ham egg and chips priced at £9.50, it was disappointing to receive chips/salad and egg on top of a few thin slices of ham as you would buy packaged from the supermarket, the meal felt a lot cheaper than its price, the sandwiches had by others in the group were better... We walked to Old Harry’s Rock and saw this pub with this amazing view. We stopped for a beer and enjoyed the place. They have their own beer and we liked it very much. A perfect place to enjoy this landscape. We didn’t have a meal there but it is also possible to have lunch. Whenever you walk to the... More

Very bad service, tables not cleared, rubbish on the floor, a very indifferent member of the bar staff, being short changed and refused any investigation, this visit persuaded my friends and I never to use this pub again

Ok I've been many times and I guess the location is the draw.... looking out to sea near old harry rocks. Old boozer with open fire. You have to go to the beer festival... amazing :-) it's and hours walk around the beack from the ferry from sandbanks. Not had the food in a while but was pretty average when... More

I thought the pub had a good food reputation but the meal we had last Sunday was disappointing: ham in my ham, egg and chips was a cold, wafer-thin, supermarket affair. Salad had no dressing. Wife had overpriced 'Mexican' chicken thighs. Kids had chicken nuggets but these were reformed chicken, not chicken breast pieces as at the White Swan Pub... More

On being shown to our ground floor, ensuite room the first impressions were very good – bright, reasonable-size, south-facing with views of Ballard Down and sea glimpses, clean white linen with a neat bundle of John Lewis towels on the big comfortable bed. Then we noticed the damp patch in the ceiling; chipped and ill-fitting laminate flooring and dirty edges;... More
