We stopped off for lunch, and although the food was OK, there was definitely room for improvement. The prices seemed quite high compared to other establishments, although I presume you are paying extra for the location. Staff friendly enough, however the place needs a makeover. Cobwebs presume add to the feel of sitting in what was probably an old stable.

Very disappointed after good honest pub meal last summer....my beef bourginion was so dry I nearly choked, no red wine, no herbs but plenty of silver skin pickled onions!!! My mother couldn't eat her tuna (she kept gagging) with a crusty paper pot of 'salsa' that looked like it had come off of several people's plates beforehand! This social salsa... More

We stayed at the Bankes Arms about 6 years ago and had a lovely time, so we thought we' d return for a mini-break. Apart from the location being as stunning as it always is - standards at the Bankes Arms seems to have deteriorated during that time. Our bedroom (Room 1) - apart from the view - was in... More

Had remembered this pub as being far nicer so felt v v let down. The location is still lovely but the pub garden was covered in litter and broken glass, cigarettes ends etc, no excuse for not clearing that up. Peak holiday season and lots of children running who could get hurt, not good enough. We all had ploughmans lunches... More

Such a let down, I was really looking forward to staying here and in such a stunning location but the accommodation is awful, room 6 has a water tank or something above it, so any time from 05.40 onwards you can forget about a peaceful sleep. Breakfast was good the first day but dry and overcooked the next day. Nothing... More

Arrived at 3.30 and a harassed bar staff arrived to take us to room. No explanations about breakfast time ( strict 8.30-9.30 only ) wifi or doors locking at 11. Room ok nothing more. Loo seat loose and wobbly, creamer for coffee two months out of date! ( curdled hence discovery). Breakfast staff member didn't arrive until 08.45 with some... More

Stayed here for one night with friends. At nearly £90 a room it's far from a cheap stop over, but don't expect anything more than a room and a bed (a working shower only if you're lucky). Checkin was at 2, we arrived at 5 and our room still wasn't ready ... The manager did kindly arranged for us to... More

Water tank directly overhead and very noisy. Fans outside too noisy to open window. Blind broken. Terrible nights sleep. Never coming back. Floor very creaky. Separate bathroom was poor. Blind broken, loo moving, no shower curtain.

My parents and I stopped here for lunch having explored the local beaches on Studland. Arriving just after 11.30 the staff seemed to be a little overwhelmed by the amount of walkers/locals/lunchtime customers at the bar and it was a little manic for a while. They were not familiar with the traditional 'St Clements' drink that somebody asked for and... More

stayed here this weekend and for £88 - it was well below standard 1) no water when we arrived (apparently happens all the time) 2) we nicknamed the worst bar staff guy dopy as he never understood any question and looked like he would rather be anywhere else but there 3) flies all over the room 4) curtain fell off...
