Unfortunately we didn’t read the reviews before staying at the Castle Inn. We stayed in the ‘thatched cottage’ adjacent to the pub, which from the outside appeared idyllic. However, the en-suite shower was reminiscent of what one would expect to find in a 1950’s army barrack! – Dribbling shower, nasty plastic curtain and a WC that didn’t flush. The bed... more

Before reading the reviews of this Inn, I booked the family room (room 5) for myself and my 2 teenage sons. I hoped that some of the problems described on Tripadviser may have been resolved for the new season but this was not the case. The bathroom is a real disapointment. The basin is still cracked, there is no shower... more

Unfriendly. Everything seems to be reserved for the "regulars", although why anyone would want to be here regularly is anyone's guess, especially when there are far better options down the road (and closer to the beach and lovely walks). more

Walked through rain to have dinner and a drink at the pub. We were 15 minutes too early and despite the pub being ready the landlord chose to dismiss us back out into the rain. I will not be going back there again. Other pubs in the village were a great deal more hospitable. more

We did not stay at the hotel, we just ate there twice and found it to be one of the best places in the area for food. I think they must have cleaned their act up since the previous reviews as I had a cheddar ploughmans for £6.90 and my partner had whitebait for £4.50 and both were sumptuous! The... more

After reading some of the reviews I can only assume the guests were expecting a large modern hotel and if that's what you want this hotel is not for you. The welcome is warm and friendly, we arrived early and were still shown to a room. Yes it was small but it had everything you would want in a room.... more

We have just come back from a 2 night stay at the Castle Inn. Very welcoming place and excellent breakfasts but the accomodation is very tired and in need of a refresh. A particular problem was the family room (No 5) having no shower. Whilst we coped and knew about this before we went the place would be out of... more

We didn't stay here (thankfully) but had a meal here whilst staying in Lulworth. The food was terrible and overpriced and the pub smelled of stale cooking fat. Maybe we were unlucky, because the place was full, but I definitely would not eat there again! We actually felt quite sick afterwards because the food was so bad! more

Just returned from my third stay at the Castle. I`m amazedby some of the reviews. Yes the rooms are smaller than some concrete box`s, yes the ceilings are low, and the corridor to the upstairs rooms 10-12 is a challenge for "large" guys like me. You must remember that this is a coaching inn dating back eons and the quirkiness... more

A traditional English pub complete with thatched roof. Car park is across a sometimes busy road on a dangerous corner, care is needed. Rooms were clean but in need of some modernisation. Bath had a "push on tap" type shower attachment. Staff were mainly friendly, some a little indifferent. Food was reasonable but limited for choice if not keen on... more
