Dropped into this B&B (it is not an hotel) hoping for an en-suite double room for the night. Simon happily gave us a family room at the double room rate as it was all he had available. Room was on the top (3rd floor) via the stairs. View was ok...the sea visible in the background. Bed was clean & comfortable... More

We stayed for 4 nights, a very nice spacious room on the first floor, the room was clean and had everything we needed, the bedding and towels were clean and the bed was very comfrortable, we enjoyed the breakfast, well cooked and served by a happy chap, he even let us take what we couldn't eat at breakfast, for our... We stayed for one night in a family room which cost £90. Their was a double bed and 2 singles. The decor was dated but the bedding was clean. The towels were clean but hard (probably dried outdoors) the bathroom floor was very creaky and the shower mixer did not work. The bath was fitted under the eaves and there... More

My wife, two children and I stayed here for 4 days, the host was very friendly and welcoming, the property is a traditional B and B, no modern white walls and plain bedding etc, to some it might appear dated, we liked the fact it was kinda homely, if you want bland and cold, try the holiday inn or travelodge..... I booked a family night for me my wife and our 2 children aged 5 and 11 so we could stay after attending a local wedding. To be honest I left it late booking and struggled to find anywhere with a family room, so although I could only find one photo of the Alessandria Hotel ( which wasn't inspiring )when... More

This place is a family run business. We stayed in the family room which was spacious and clean, and very quiet. However, the whole place was a bit dated and would benefit from some modernization, especially in the bathroom and with the sockets and switches. The shower was difficult to control. It was either too cold or too hot. The... More

We have stayed in the hotel for a couple of times now (we regularly go to Portland for climbing) and will certainly return there. Giovanni will give you a warm welcome and look after you throughout your stay. Room & bathroom were clean, and the breakfast was generous! Would recommend it to anyone

Been coming here for years, Giovanii is a hard working chap who is a very kind caring sort of fella....and for £35 a night during off peak season rates is value for money. Please don't expect luxury the place is really showing it's age and is in desperate need of modernising/decorating. BUT it serves it's purpose, and the fact there... More

I stayed at the Alessandria from June 16th to june 23rd 2013 while on a 5 day sculpture workshop at Tout Quarry . The owner, Giovanni, is the perfect host and a very interesting man who keeps his B&B hotel in a way that makes you feel instantly at home. The Full English Breakfast kept me going well into my...
