Just spent a lovely weekend and was not disappointed. Room was clean and comfortable. Food was stunning with good selection of local produce including game. Puddings to die for with the greatrest sticky pudding your mother would be proud of. All of this rounded off with a warm welcome and great service. If you want a good base to visit... More

Went with friends a couple of weeks back, great choice on their part. Fantastic food and service - great ambience in the pub. Scallop gratin and venison scotch egg starters - excellent The mains were all equally good as well. Not a massive wine list, but quality over quantity really. The sancerre is worth ordering.

This pub was recommended to us whilst staying in the local area for a long weekend, and we had also read excellent reviews before going away. We were not disappointed! We had a lovely meal - can definitely recommend the fish and chips - the staff were extremely friendly and a big thank you to Gavin who managed to fit... More

Choosing to treat ourselves to our company Christmas meal at the Ship was an easy decision to make. For a small country pub / restaurant it is a true gem, full of atmosphere, class, style and fantastic service. Every dish was delicious, generous and thoughtfully prepared as well as great value for money. Staff were attentive to every need but... More

Stayed here for one night whilst visiting the area on business, didn't realize it was there but its location and quality means I will return again. The staff were excellent and attentive throughout, no issues at all. The room. As a business traveller we require Wi-Fi which admittedly I hadn't checked but was relieved that there was, a major plus.... More

Took the family for Sunday lunch on friend’s recommendation and it was worth the endorsement. With two small children in the party we were given a table with plenty of space for high chairs in the bottom half of the restaurant. There was even a toy box available for them to play with which was a nice touch. The restaurant... More

Just come back from a weekend away and had yet another wonderful meal at the Ship. A friend recommended it to me and it really is a great find. The Ship is located a little way off the A303 but I always try and stop off for a meal if ever I’m on my way to or from London and... More

Having read the previous two reviews I felt compelled to write up my recent experience of The Ship Inn. My wife and I went for an evening meal to celebrate a birthday. This is the third time we've eaten there in the past 6 months and on each occasion it never fails to impress. Gavin the landlord and his staff... More

Came here with my husband last week for a meal and wished we didn't! We had smoked trout for starter and it really was a child size portion, not only that but my husband had a huge DOG hair in his. I asked the deputy manager (as after asking for the manager we were told he was away that evening)... More

Gavin G, Owner at The Ship Inn & Hotel, responded to this review

I was very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your meal here at The Ship Inn, but somewhat confused as to your whole description of the events that took place. You ordered two starters; these were smoked trout with citrus dressing, new potato, rocket & asparagus salad, to accompany which you ordered a bowl of cheesy chips. This... More
