My wife and I were attracted to the Bankes Arms due to it's location in Corfe Castle. And what a location! Ideal for those who like to walk, like history, enjoy preserved railways or simply wish to see Dorset at its best. Having parked the car we entered the hotel via the garden and the impression was of a hotel... More

We stayed here for 2 nights. Ate dinner 1st night here and was lovely, bar lady really friendly. It's in a great location right in centre of corfe castle village & has many nice beaches and towns to visit all a short distance by car away. Breakfast also great. Shared toilet on landing was really clean all the time also... More

Excellent value for money. Clean and roomy. We had our own bathroom which was well appointed, the room had tea making facilities and the bed was comfortable. Wish they had 'proper milk' instead of the little plastic pots. Had dinner That night and it was delicious. My daughter is a vegan and they were more than happy to prepare a... More

We stopped off at Corfe Castle as it is absolutely stunning scenery Right in the centre was this pub which looked to be ok However..... The staff's get up and go appears to have got up and gone. The food was even worse - the worst meal of my holiday and the worst meal I've had for a long time.... More

This lovely building is a 2 minute walk from the Castle so it's very well located. The pub has a good selection of ales and a comprehensive menu; the cooked breakfasts are splendid. There had been a mistake over our booking but the landlady was very helpful and found a solution of sorts (her options were limited as all the... More

Landlady asked me not to eat my own food in her pub when ordering a couple of pints for myself and partner. Had about half a biscuit in my hand bought from nearby bakery. Gobsmacked, should have gone down the road as pub was also v tired and devoid of atmosphere. Should be a grand old establishment but let down... More

My second time here in recent times - last time in mid winter sitting in the bar with our dogs in front of the fire, and this time in the sunshine in the garden having walked up from the railway station. Great place to take visiting friends and family and full of character. Enjoyed the beer, and the lovely crab... More

We were staying in Corfe Castle and decided to have a meal in the Bankes Arms Hotel. The fact that the place was empty should have given us a clue that this was not the place to be for a meal. The barmaid was on the telephone when we arrived and made no attempt to cut short her call and... More

How can you get a ploughmans wrong ???? Well they can here. Stopped here for lunch over the last May bank holiday. Walking in the bar area which was dark and dingey, so we thought we'd try outside as it was a lovely sunny day. Found a large garden/patio area to the rear, so we decided to stay as the... More

I was surprised at the lack of effort which seemed to have gone into all aspects of the experience at the Bankes Armes. The menu is limited and without flare. When we ordered our food we found the customer service to be somewhat lacking. We were asked if we would like our starters before our mains. I said that we... More
