Having journeyed to Swanage with friends then on by steam railway to Corfe Catle arriving around lunchtime we chose the Bankes Arms Hotel as our dining venue. It wasn't particularly busy, and after finding a table amongst the many empty tables we were given encapsulated menus which didn't inspire. We ordered from the bar which is usual, and returned to... On arrival to the Bankes Arms B&B in corfe Castle first impressions outside we thought lovely Period Building Nestled in the Heart of Corfe. then we stepped inside and from that moment on things went down hill. fast. we booked into our room which was room 8 overlooking the village square and church yard. after spending a day at Studland... Clean rooms and clean sheets and towels are the positive points. Very old run down pub with smelly carpets and very ordinary food. Room had threadbare curtains which shone all the outside lights through. Staff tried hard but seemed hastled and harried and not very happy. Suggest you try somewhere else.

Admittedly this was a warm evening after everybody had been to the beach, but still.....I ordered a glass of wine and a chicken caesar salad at 8.40pm and went to sit in the garden to wait. Along with 100 others, I might add. It took them 1 hour 10 mins to deliver probably the worst ceasar salad I've had in... More

We ate lunch here whilst visiting Corfe Castle. We sat outside in a less than charming garden and although it was very hot and sunny none of the parasols were in use. We ordered our food at the bar from a very rude lady, I think she was in charge. As I am diabetic I asked what sort of diet... More

My wife and I were attracted to the Bankes Arms due to it's location in Corfe Castle. And what a location! Ideal for those who like to walk, like history, enjoy preserved railways or simply wish to see Dorset at its best. Having parked the car we entered the hotel via the garden and the impression was of a hotel... More

We stayed here for 2 nights. Ate dinner 1st night here and was lovely, bar lady really friendly. It's in a great location right in centre of corfe castle village & has many nice beaches and towns to visit all a short distance by car away. Breakfast also great. Shared toilet on landing was really clean all the time also... More

Excellent value for money. Clean and roomy. We had our own bathroom which was well appointed, the room had tea making facilities and the bed was comfortable. Wish they had 'proper milk' instead of the little plastic pots. Had dinner That night and it was delicious. My daughter is a vegan and they were more than happy to prepare a... More

We stopped off at Corfe Castle as it is absolutely stunning scenery Right in the centre was this pub which looked to be ok However..... The staff's get up and go appears to have got up and gone. The food was even worse - the worst meal of my holiday and the worst meal I've had for a long time.... More

This lovely building is a 2 minute walk from the Castle so it's very well located. The pub has a good selection of ales and a comprehensive menu; the cooked breakfasts are splendid. There had been a mistake over our booking but the landlady was very helpful and found a solution of sorts (her options were limited as all the... More
