During the Easter break we visited the pub for lunch on Saturday. Great looking pub but strangely surprised that there was one person looking after the bar/food orders, which proved tiresome given that a large party had arrived and decided to order separately. Whilst I can't fault the pub for thus, it might have been better to source resources to... More

We spent two nights at the Bankes Arms. Its situation is second to none - close to the Steam Railway Station (hotel parking adjacent), Corfe Castle and all local amenities. We had a good sized room and friendly service. We had planned to eat in the hotel on our first night and go elsewhere on the second. However the food... More

I admit that The Bankes Arms could do with a bit of updating, or perhaps it's all part of the charm! BUT having said that, don't let it put you off, Scott, Sam and the team here make you feel very welcome and quite honestly Scott should be on the stage! We arranged to have a surprise engagement party here... More

The food seemed reasonably priced but when we received the dishes we found the portions, presentation and quality was awful. Because there were dogs in the main bar we decided to eat in a rear bar which was as grim as the food. If they did not source the furnishings from a skip then they should certainly donate it to... Cold wet day, roaring fire, good food.... what could be better My wife and I enjoyed a lovey light lunch by the fire with a pint of fine ale served by a jovial host. the place was not busy on the day of our visit but our lunch was delivered quickly, tasted great and all in a cheery atmosphere. Stayed here for one night the week before Christmas. This place needs serious investment and updating . Food mediocre and staff not that friendly and breakfast only served after 8am.! Won't bother next time.

We booked for a meal on New Years Eve 2013 not expecting a lot as this was Corfe Castle and a small pub. How wrong we were proved. The food was superb, Scott the General Manager / Waiter was a scream with a constant stream of one liners. At midnight we all went to the square for a most enjoyable... More

We booked a christmas break at Bankes Hotel. On arriving we were shown to our room which was quite roomy but basic. The bed had been made up, fresh towels and the bedroom clean. The bathroom however was a disaster. The hand basin needed a clean, the taps dripped and the toilet badly stained. The shower seemed ok however, but... More

Having popped into this place on a freezing cold day because it looked lovely outside, we found they have an open fire not lit and the place was freezing as well, oh well we thought, lets get some hot food inside us. Oh my god, the so called hot food came out not only cold but on freezing cold plates.... More

Although it was the weekend of the storm, our stay at the Bankes Hotel was cosy and welcoming. This is a very old (15/16th century?) building and as such displays all the idiosyncrasies of such an old establishment which, in my view, just adds to the charm of the place. Food superb and a special mention for "Sam" who was... More
