Visited the pub with my wife one lunchtime while on a weekend away in Bournemouth. Found the staff to be very friendly. The cider I had was really nice. The Ploughmans lunch was ok - not the best I've ever had. What let it down was the serving of the butter in the foil wrapper and the pickle in a... More

I always try and stay here when I visit the area. Amazing old historical building with a roaring open fire and friendly staff. It has a carpark right next to the steam railway station and it overlooks the village square within spitting distance of the castle grounds. The breakfast I had was fantastic and the rates were pretty reasonable.I sincerely hope... We called here as I have family history here, I've been here as a child in the seventies and since, my great grandmother and grandmother used to live and work here in the 1920s 30s and during the war serving fish suppers and cream teas in the garden on the hill over the sea. It has dramatically gone down hill.... More

Stayed here for two nights in a front room with four poster bed. Good sized room, comfy bed and clean. Great breakfast, good choice and very filling! Friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is in need of refurbishment and is closing shortly for this to happen. I hope the National Trust and the new management retain the historic value of... More

Visited for lunch and as it was a nice day sat in the large garden next to the railway and with an excellent view of corfe castle. The food was lovely and the portions large. Only downside was only one person serving on the bar so had a short wait to order.

We popped in here for dinner after visiting Corfe Castle. The prices were reasonable and the bar staff friendly enough. The portions were generous and the quality was pretty good but not great. If you're looking for a reasonably priced family dinner this is a good spot, if you want a nice dinner out the Greyhound over the road is... More

Staying locally for relatives wedding. Did not stay here but popped in for evening meal after a 7 hour drive. Found the bar maid to be quite unwelcoming/unhelpful. Had reserved a table for 10 of us. Found our own table, had to ask for menu. After ordering curry for 2 of us waitress informed us that there was no "yellow... More

Had a great stay here overnight next to Corfe Castle. Room was fine quite large and comfortable and had a nice evening in this classic Dorset bar. Didnt eat in the restaurant apart from breakfast which was excellent. would definitely go back.

We've just had lunch at The Bankes Arms (not staying here, but we have stayed here previously). This pub is in a prime location in Corfe. Nice old building, big garden, parking and very convenient for the castle and the steam railway. Food fine. Prices not to shocking for Londoners, and probably alright for such a touristy area. Staff very... More

Having journeyed to Swanage with friends then on by steam railway to Corfe Catle arriving around lunchtime we chose the Bankes Arms Hotel as our dining venue. It wasn't particularly busy, and after finding a table amongst the many empty tables we were given encapsulated menus which didn't inspire. We ordered from the bar which is usual, and returned to...
