Booked restaurant for evening meal. Knew that the hotel had changed hands so was interested to see what it was like. We were not disappointed. Service was very good, waitress friendly. The proprietor even took the time to speak to us even though it was busy. We were in the main restaurant (but you can eat in the bar area... More

Just popped in for drinks and to see the changes that have been made since new management taken over. What a difference completely different atmosphere well done, will be back. Didn't try the restaurant but menu looked good and wine prices not over the top. They also seem to have a good base of local custom now which is also... More

Only stopped for a coffee and a look at the refurbishment, both were perfect! Service was good and the coffee was great, the host Chris was a great to chat to. The place has been refurbished to a high standard, I will be back to try the food and once the rooms are finished possibly for a stay. The makings... More

Dropped in for a pint and something to eat. I was early so it was quiet, but it filled up by the time I had left with locals of all sorts. A fire burned in the stove. The beer was well kept and very pleasant. I had Beef lasagne which was excellent, firm pasta and toothsome sauce. Will definitely return.... More

My partner and I called in on Sunday looking to have a hot meal. We were told by the barman that they were only serving cold food as the kitchen was being refurbished and wouldn't be fully operational until Tuesday. It wasn't a problem for us and we were glad we stayed. Our ploughman's and sandwiches were delicious. The barman... More

I'm not sure which pub the previous review went to but this pub is good again. The new landlord has refurbished the interior and is friendly and welcoming. We have booked for Xmas dinner and this pub is top of the list when we decide to go out for a beer. Great to see a historic pub being run by... More

This place has lost its local pub feel now just trying to be something it isn't. Barman didn't want to serve us as he was too busy chatting away. What happened to the open fires? Feels very empty in the bar and cold

Looking at all David's 9 posts it is apparent that he is visiting establishments only to find fault. Our staff are friendly and welcoming so the comment regarding service is a surprise. As to the fires, unfortunately these were condemned and if David would like to revisit he will find that one has now been replaced and the other being... More

We popped in over the weekend just gone, what a fantastic place! At the moment the bar is just open but the place oozes character, history and charm and we very much look forward to visiting once the restaurant and hotel are up and running in the new year. Lovely staff, who were very informative and gave us some good... More
